Project: National Weather Services Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) running on Linux platforms at all 168 Weather Forecast Offices and River Forecast Centers nationwide: Created, updated and executed test cases for system processes, including redundancy failovers, data ingest, file backup/recovery/purging, message handling, and manipulation of data from hydrologic and text databases (using PostgreSQL), as well as weather and hydrologic display applications. Working closely with developers, verified defect fixes and executed regression tests. During transition to SOA-based second generation of AWIPS, led special workgroup project to review test cases and recommend the most valuable in 5 categories, reducing 1300+ cases down to 577. Designed and managed cross-functional training for the 10-member test team. Evaluated Test Management tools, made recommendation to management. Helped define criteria and procedures for requirement and test case reviews. Wrote or verified portions of project documentation (User Manuals, etc.) Mentored new test team members.

Project: government war-gaming simulation: Expanded testing for major releases to include regression and performance testing, and warehousing of scenarios. Analyzed and reported results to management and overseas customer. Managed defects, requirements, and the re-verification process using Test Director. As system administrator for Test Director, implemented improvements to the defect reporting-repair-verification process. Trained team members in UNIX, simulation functionality, and usage of Test Director. Developed comprehensive multi-week course in PowerPoint to train the customer in how to use the simulation.
