NEW EARTHQUAKE PRODUCTS

SUBWOOFERS
The MiniMe subwoofers were the rst Earthquake products in our range to receive huge acclaim. It was their ability to generate enormous power from a small form factor and their great nish. The combination of digital Class D amplication and the active speaker and passive radiator design (SLAPS) meant that a shockingly dynamic and powerful impact was felt from even the diminutive 8" subwoofer. The nish is also more consistent with that of musical instruments with a total of 7 layers of piano lacquer. Since April, we expanded the range to include the black 8", 10", 12" and white 8". In the last shipment, we further added the front ring MiniMe. It is built in a pressure chamber housing rather than using the passive radiator like other MiniMe subwoofers. This means that it can be located within furniture or placed in a tight corner. The nal addition for 2013 was the MKVI Supernova subwoofers. These are the pinup centrefolds of the Earthquake range. They use the legendary Earthquake Class J patented amplication. The settings are also quite unique, meaning that you can have greater exibility when it comes to the ideal placement of the Supernova sub. If you're passionate about home theatre and have a good understanding of calibrating multichannel audio, then I'd suggest reading the reviews on the product pages of both Supernova MKVI subs.

When deciding the ideal placement of a subwoofer (or subwoofers), a good starting point is to place it in the corner of the room. The corners will assist the subwoofers in delivering power. From there, you need to ne tune the placement to suit your room's acoustics.

Up until recently, we have stocked only the XJ series of Earthquake ampliers. They have multiple applications including powering in-wall subwoofers, like the Earthquake Thor subwoofer, speaker setups like the 2.1 Earthquake rock speakers and even for the seatshaking Earthquake tactile transducers. When you install a Yamaha Aventage Receiver, plug it into the power point and connect it to your network (Router). Download the Yamaha App. As soon as you open the App, you'll see an IP address as per the screenshot below. Type that same IP address into any computer on the network (or WiFi) via your chosen internet browser and you'll see the Yamaha receiver manager menu as per the screenshot below. Now add "/setup" to that IP address and you'll now see the "web setup" screen. Setting up the Receiver from the web setup screen will save you loads of time

B&W unfortunately discontinued the Weng'e nish. Weng'e was a popular choice of wood for some of the top instruments, but Wikipedia tells me that we humans liked Weng'e a little too much and were left with no forests. So now we have found ourselves with a couple of left over speakers in the form of two of my favourite models, two units of the HTM61 centre speakers and one pair of 683 front speakers. We have priced them at the same retail as the HTM62 and 684. That's a discount of $300 and $600 respectively! While we're on the subject of B&W, the Unboxed program will be running until January 25. AMPLIFYING TV SIGNAL If your TV signal is too low, use a masthead amplier. If the TV antenna signal is okay (60dB) but signal to your TVs is too low, use a distribution amplier.

SITE TESTING TV SIGNAL The folding log periodic (CLPF) is a popular choice for site testing. The folding design means that it's portable and easy to carry up ladders. Currently our houses are packed with USB power supplies, which are being used to power phones, tablets, radios, LED lamps and more. There are 2 reasons for the adoption of USB power supplies. 1. We're seeing the capacity of these USB power supplies increase from 0.5A to 2A, meaning it could potentially power devices up to 10W. 2. Electronics are becoming vastly more efcient, so more and more devices draw less than 10W. By this logic, we should see more and more devices opting for USB as the default power source. Using

a lumpy USB power supply on every power point is no longer acceptable. There are lots of USB power points (GPOs) on the market, but the PT9822 is fully approved and well built. The rear of the GPO is also small enough to t into existing cutouts. Many competing models won't accommodate for the plaster clips, meaning extra costly labour time. Obviously the installation must be done by a sparky, so I'd suggest going for the PT9822 and calling the sparky for the installation.
