Vocal Warm Up

Stretching - To start with You should stretch out their bodies by raising there arms in the air and clasping there hands together, then try and touch their toes. Whilst bending down you can sway from side to side, then stand up and shake out their bodies. You should then massage their face by rubbing their cheeks, pretending to chew a toffee and make making their faces as big and small as possible. All this will loosen up your body and produce a more free vocal sound. Posture You should stand straight with your feet parallel, with your knees slightly bent. Your shoulders should be relaxed and in place, you can check this is right by rolling your shoulders. osture is important as if it is incorrect it can constrict your vocal power. !verall you should "ust feel relaxed in this position. Breathing You should start by taking in air with your mouth and out again on a count of #. Recoil & Splat These exercises prepare your diaphragm for singing, it is where all the power comes from. You shouldn(t make it as a sudden movement but gradually incresae the locking to control your energy for the sound. The splat is when you release the tension. You can do many warm ups for this, such as doing the well known football chant on a )fff recoiling when you make the sound and splating to release it. Siren This is a noise which is very similar to a police or ambulance siren. You can do this by placing your tongue on the roof of your mouth til you feel the soft palate. !nce this is located you should begin with your lowest note before gradually rising to the highest note in your range. *o this a couple time before swapping to your highest and sirening to your lowest note. After you should then start low and go to high then back down again and vice versa. $irening warms up your vocal chords gradually with a gentle sound. $irens should not be loud.

Twang Twang will work on your belting sound for longer notes. You can

practice this by again finding your soft palate and making a 2uacking noise like or duck. Also you can use the playground 3ee 3ahh song to practice your twang. Twang should be clear and loud.
