The Wiccan pantheon

PDF by brothersale Pantheon History The Wiccan pantheon is a prime example of a new pantheon emerging from a modern re-evaluation of ancient ideals and concepts (even Wiccan experts admit that the religion that spawned these new gods only began about sixty years ago). The Wiccan pantheon like many of the others is focused on humanity but their focus is their inner enlightenment. They believe that by helping humanity to look inside of themselves for knowledge and wisdom they can better the universe. As such they interact very intimately with humanity both in the past and now and their weakness lies in their vulnerability to the human beliefs that the other gods seek to avoid. Though they are willing to let their own natures evolve and change so long as they evolve along with the mortals they care for. Virtues: Courage, Expression, Harmony, Intellect Pantheon Specific Purview Book of Shadows With this purview a Scion is able to utilize the tools that have been a staple of the wiccan faith since its inception (and parts of the component beliefs that Wicca composes itself from). Able to call some of their divine parents powers through every day items as others of the faith had one before. Boline (1 point) With this ability a Scion is able to designate a knife or dagger, either a cooking utensil or actual weapon and it will operate as a competent tool for any craft or art using their hands and also adds a two dice bonus to these skills. This boon costs one legend to active and the item stays blessed for the rest of the scene. Athame (2 points) A Scion is able to designate any dagger or knife as their Athame a blade that has been used by many before them to channel the energies of the wiccan pantheons worshippers. The Athame allows a scion to boost the powers of his boons either by increased in the distance or time by 1/4th the distance. Activating this power costs the Scion one legend point and a single item cannot be marked as both a Boline and an Athame. Pentagram (3 points) A Scion is now able to designated a 10ft diameter circle as a Pentagram so long as he possesses some materials to fashion a physical pentagram (ie chalk, stones, powders, rope, etc) Within the pentagram a Scion is protected from supernatural threats such as a Titanspawn or the abilities of another Scion. They are still vulnerable to all physical and mortal threats. A Titanspawn isn't able to enter the pentagram and any supernatural attacks or abilities directed inside is unable to breach the circle. Scions

are able to enter the circle at will, even enemy Scions but any enemy Scions boons will suffer the same penalty. If anyone who is within the pentagram when it is cast leaves it the Pentagram is broken. It costs one legend to dedicate the Pentagram and a willpower point must be spent to imprint each given Titanspawn or Scion as an 'intruder', and it lasts for a half hour for every success they roll on a (Intelligence + Occult) roll.

The Maiden The first incarnation of what is known as the Triple Goddess, the Maiden is caught in the first blush of her youthful beauty, turning many heads not only with the beauty of her face but of the innocence she espouses. Yet she is not just a goddess of love but also of strength, as she is both lover and warrior. Though only recently tested, she is unwavering on the field of battle. In modern times she takes the form of a young woman in her 20's still in the flush of all her potential. A young woman in college classes asking all the penetrating questions, a young military officer seeking to prove that women belong just as much as men, a beautiful dancer and model, or a business woman who wins with smiles and a spine of steel. Many of her Scions take after her in both their looks and temperament, she tends to encourage them to seek out the fields that challenge them and run with it. She sees that all her children begin to approach the potential that she has given them and is usually very involved in nudging her Scions to their goals. Of all the Wiccan pantheon she is the most closely tied to the very earth that she loves and protects. She is nurturing but implacable when moved to anger, falling upon her enemies like a landslide. She is perpetually in the flush of motherhood of both the God and humanity. In modern days she has appeared as a housewife with several children underfoot, a nanny with a gentle touch, a soccer mom, and avid childrens rights activist. If it has to do with either nurturing or protecting children she is interested. Almost always appearing as a woman in her 30s, curvaceous and filled with a earthy and alluring beauty and a warm smile and cookies for any who come to visit. Of all the Wiccan Pantheon she is known to dot upon her Scions the most. She treats each one as if they were the most precious thing she had ever created and gently guides them to their destiny. Many take after her as nurturers and protectors going into fields such as medicine, especially paediatrics or childcare and civic service. The Crone The final incarnation of the Triple Goddess, The Crone is the goddess over both knowledge and darkness. She is the goddess of great wisdom and great secrets, searching among the shadows for knowledge and guarding it carefully. She seeks to challenge all people to use their mind to solve a problem and to know the difference between mere knowledge and true wisdom. Many times she can be seen as gruff and dangerous, as her lessons are not always learned lightly. She many times takes the form of a woman in her mid 50s still full of a dry wit and sardonic smiles. She has worked as a challenging professor, a librarian who demands books be treated with respect, and a research specialist in many different fields. She always seeks to surround herself with knowledge an be in the right place to encourage those that follow and care for it. Her Scions are few and far between as she is rarely moved to other pursuits then exploration of the mind but those that are born usually have her same sharp wit and thirst for knowledge. They usually find themselves extremely gifted in the sciences and academics getting themselves into top research programs and academic disciplines. Much like her domain she usually appears unfazed by events and placcid, but when she decides to act to is as unstoppable as the tides. She is usually content to enjoy the oceans and is the least active in the mortal world of all the goddess's of the Wiccan pantheon. When she is lured away from the Ocean by the mortals of the world she is often seen as a woman of striking and deep beauty, her eyes deep pools of blue that seem to shimmer and dance. She has been a swimsuit model, a whale trainer, a marine biologist, an oceanographer and veterinarian who specializes in oceanic animals. She is seen as an unflappable woman filled with good sense and a calming effect on others. Her Scions many times are seen similarly usually hiding a razor sharp will underneath a calm exterior. This makes them very gifted in the competitive fields of business and notably the stock exchanges. Able to sit back and calmy weigh their options and then jump at the greatest of the ebbs and flow. He is mercurial and filled with boundless energy. His joy and good nature are Intelligence,

infectious as even the usually grim and grumpy must brighten at his company. Filled with a great deal of love for humanity and a zest for anything exciting or fun. He's always looking for something new and exciting to do when he comes to the mortal world and never turns down an opportunity. Hes been a sky diver, a fighter pilot, a wine connoisseur, and stunt driver along with many other personalities that give him the freedom to indulge in the excitement of the mortal world. He is usually seen as a strikingly handsome man with a pair of eyes the colour of a deep forest and a smile that rarely leaves his face and infects all who see it. His Scions are never short on charm and usually find themselves the centre of attention at any gathering. Filled with his same verve and vigour for life they are like a whirlwind once set free on a task. Many Scions are more then happy to have them as allies as they are reliable in battle and work many times as the face of the group in social situations. Associated Powers: Epic Stamina, Epic Appearance, Epic Charisma, Earth, Fertility Abilities: Art, Craft, Athletics, Melee, Command, Fortitude Rivals: Apollo, Horus, Freyr, Xipe Totec, Izanami, Kalfu The Hunter Since the dawn of humanity the archetype of the Hunter has ran beneath the moonlight in search of prey, be it the animals of the forest or the unfaithful of humanity. Though this recent apotheosis of the concept is young, he retains all of the ferocity, dogged determination, and implacable fortitude that his source would require of him. He has roamed the world far and wide, the counterpart of the mother, grim in the hunt but full of the tender love of a father towards his children, be they the Scions he's sired or the mortals who worship him. He still wanders the modern world in many forms. Stock Broker, Survival Expert, Hunting Enthusiast, Professional Athlete, etc. He is usually in the form of a man in his late 30s with a serious expression and deep brown eyes that seem to have a feral glint when he's having fun. The Hunters children usually inherit his love of the outdoors many times taking up outdoor careers or at least taking an avid interest in sports and camping. They also share his tactful and quiet nature and competent bearing. They are more prone to work alone as information gatherers and lone hunters against the Titanspawn but when they do join a band they work best as their scouts and warriors. He is the Wiccan spirit of death and transformation, he is the power that limits and the voice that says no. Many others would see him as an evil or wicked God but in truth he shares the same tender feelings most of the pantheon feel for mortals, which is why he gives them death, a freedom from life and the next step in existence. He is also responsible for the force of limits and justice. As the agent of death in a pantheon still active in the world he is constantly upon the Earth in many

forms. Doctor, Mortician, Police Officer, and other forms that deal with both enforcing the law and dealing with life and death. He's always dark of hair and eye and is usually very grim though he always has a final comforting smile for those who fall under his responsibility. When he takes lovers he never kisses them on the mouth, not out of spite but because his kiss is the last that any mortal shall feel. The Scions of the Dark God tend to share his fascinations with the cycles of life and the importance of justice. Many have taken up jobs in the legal system helping to close down operations set up by human criminals working with the Titanspawn. He is known for being even tempered and cheerful his smile literally radiating sunlight and warmth. He is the opposite of the Maiden and they dance across the sky as the Sun and Moon keeping day and night in balance. When he visits the mortal world he possesses bright sky blue eyes and short cropped flaxen eyes and copper tanned skin. Hes worked as a psychologist with a sunny disposition, a cheerful electrician, a motivational speaker, and physicist. He is delighted to interact with mortals and finds their ingenuity and resilience amusing. The Sun God's Scions invariably possess his natural flair and charm. They usually go for careers where they get an opportunity to watch humans much like their father and to inspire the masses, hoping that by inspiring humanity they can stave off the Titanspawn. They are usually calm and collected but filled with fire on the battlefield.
