Evaluation of Test Shots

On Sunday 26th of January, we went up to London in order to create some test shots for our final piece to create a rough cut. The day started out very overcast and it rained a lot which wasnt the setting which we desired to shoot in. But nonetheless we carried on filming the reason why we have an umbrella in most of our shots and why it appears to be raining. We got the train from Upminster to Embankment, but had to take the district line the whole way (26 stops!) due to the C2C not working on weekends at the moment. After the long train journey we made our way to our desired setting, along the Thames with the London Eye in the Background in order to add a landmark so that our audience knew that we were in London. This is a snap shot of our long shot in order to show the surroundings and our main character. After shooting in this location, we then walking along the bank to Millennium Bridge in order to create our tracking shot and our push and pull focus shot in order to get St Pauls in the background as this is a shot we desired to recreate from seeing it in films beforehand. Due to the rain interrupting the filming we was not able to go to Camden, our last location to film, but we did manage to get the train to Bond Street in order to shoot the Selfridges scene which involved two shots, one from inside Selfridges and one from outside. The outside shot was a reflection shot which we were inspired to do from the film Breakfast at Tiffanys.

Comments from Teacher:

Add Titles where we think they will go on our rough cut. Good Jump Shots. Trim the beginning and end of Shots so that they flow better. The blink shot needs to be more natural and also would look better from the side, rather than front on. Good Match on Action shot with the glasses. Position of character e.g. hands, needs to also be more natural. Clips when walking but next clip is standing still, adjust clips. Close up of earrings and actions and then walk. Selfridges scene do a side shot, or close up to show her emotions.

How we will improve for the final opening title sequence:

1. Follow and complete comments from feedback of teacher 2. Check weather to ensure that it doesnt rain on the day as this will make it more difficult to film 3. Use a steadycam to ensure that the shots arent shaky which will be useful for the tracking shots 4. Ensure that the cab scene and Camden scene are filmed
