Ric is the father of five and
spent five years in the US
Air Force as a Medical
Technician. Ric works full
time at Home Depot in
Phoenix, AZ. He enjoys
reading, watching football
(Go Steelers!) and
traveling.
Susan Guinn-
Lahm, MA, CRC, LPC
Susan is a native of Ajo, AZ
where she works as the
Lead Behavioral Health
Clinician at Desert Senita
Community Health Center
(DSCHC). Susan provide
general mental health
counseling services,
specializing in patient’s
behavioral changes to
compliment their medical
treatment.
Kaity’s Story
Kaity Marie Sudberry,
born July 5, 1990 in
Tucson, AZ became a
beautiful, vivacious and
artistically talented loving
young woman. Kaity was
a senior at Moon Valley
High School in Phoenix,
AZ recently accepted to
Northern Arizona
University (NAU) to study
Wildlife Science. Kaity
was a soft spoken and
silly girl who could put a
smile on your face with
just her presence. She
enjoyed sports, gardening,
cooking, drawing, painting
and animals.

share the love she knew
Kaity’s Way
Kaity's Way is a Non Profit
501(c)(3) Tax Exempt
Corporation located in
Arizona.
The Purpose of Kaity's
Way is to provide
assistance to children of
all ages subjected to or
involved in violent
relationships.
Follow the three R’s *Respect for Self * Respect for Others and *Responsibility for all your
actions.
P.E.A.C.E
extended to a young man
in December 2006. This
was Kaity’s first love
outside her family and all
seemed well in the
beginning. After months
of dating his previously
polite and respectful
behavior changed
drastically as he became
possessive and jealous,
texting and calling Kaity
anytime she was away
from him.
After months of enduring
this behavior, with the
support of Kaity’s family
and friends, she ended
the relationship in late
December 2007.
Our Mission is to promote
understanding and
educate the community to
lessen the instances of
violence among or against
children through
P.E.A.C.E. (Patience,
Empathy, Acceptance,
Caring and Equality).
In January 2008, the
young man assaulted
Kaity during school and he
was suspended and a
police report against the
young man was filed. A
second assault at school
prompted his expulsion
from school and another
police report was filed as
well as an Injunction
Against Harassment filed
after he threatened to kill
Kaity and himself.
On January 28, 2009, five
days after the IAH was
filed, the young man
assaulted Kaity in front of
her home, pulling her to
the neighbor’s side yard
where he killed her and
then killed himself.
What is a violent
relationship?
A violent relationship is a
relationship where at least
one of the individuals
within a relationship
chooses to emotionally,
verbally or physical cause
harm to the other
individual in that
relationship.

Kaity’s Law is a new law
passed just this year by
the AZ Legislation,
sponsored by Senator
Paton, coordinated by
Kendra Leiby of the
AZCADV and on a
personal level, Bobbi
Sudberry, President and
Co-Founder of Kaity's
Way, who testified in favor
of this law being passed.
In the simplest terms,
Kaity's Law affords those
in abusive or violent
dating relationships--
sexual or romantic in
nature--the same
protection under the law
as those in a relationship
such as, married, living
together, formerly living
together or married,
related by blood or
pregnant together.
