Community Need
In 2000, 1 million 723 thousand children under the age of 9 were treated for an unintentional fall related injury (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013). This was the number one reason children required treatment. Having a trained and certified babysitter can reduce the risk of injuries.

Having a deep and genuine love for children of all ages, we

believe in protecting adolescents and the children they are watching. We use instructional methods that foster success and strive to make all interactions constructive and energizing Providing curriculum that is developmentally appropriate to the intellectual and emotional capabilities of the youth we teach. We are committed to providing the community with a safe and reliable resource for youth to be trained as safe and trusted babysitters.

Offering youth ages 13-15 the opportunity to receive the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe and responsible care for infants and children. We focus on leadership, safety and safe play, basic first aid, critical emergency action skills, and professionalism.

Organizational Goals
1. Providing the community with safe, effective, supported and certified babysitters using the latest evidence based practice and research. 2. Be leaders in the community on safe child care.

Organizational Objectives
1. To train and certify 100 youth this year. 2. To pass at least 90% of students taking the course. 3. To offer continued support for graduates, including phone support, in-office support, and refresher courses. 4. To evaluate effectiveness of the program through parent and teen feedback with a positive feedback score of 85% from responses received. 5. To achieve a 90% pass rate in the Pediatric First Aid and CPR certifications. 6. To set up a babysitting network in which students can find work and parents can find sitters to meet their needs with 85% finding jobs.

Position Descriptions

President - The president of the company will make decisions to keep the company on track to fulfilling its mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives. The president position is paid as a part-time position based on 20 hours per week. Benefits are not available. Specific duties include:

Office Manager - The office manager will keep the office running efficiently and effectively. The office manager will report to the president. The office manager is a part-time position working 20 hours per week with no benefits. Specific duties include:

Position Descriptions

Instructor - The instructor will teach the babysitting classes along with the president. The instructor will be paid per student enrolled in the courses. No benefits will be offered. Reports to the president. Specific duties include:

Consultants - The consultants will be paid on an as-needed basis. They are not employees of the company.

An informational technological expert will be consulted for computer, phone, and technical advice, set-up, and problems. A financial expert will be consulted for company budget and finance advice, set-up, and problems.

Environmental Assessment
An environmental scan shows the Red Cross offers classes both online and in the classroom. Classroom price is $85 (American Red Cross, 2013). The Red Cross does not offer support after the classroom. This is the niche the Home Alone Prevention Unit will fill, offering support to the adolescents during and after they complete training.

Market Target
The market target is youths 13 to 15 years of age, their parents, and parents of children needing babysitting services.

Marketing Plan
Services Offered
4 babysitting courses per month.

Each course consists of 2 five hours classes spread over 2 consecutive days per week with a minimum of 10 students per course.

After hours phone support for graduates of babysitting program. One stop shopping for parents looking for babysitter services. Website and office support to help parents find babysitters and babysitters to find jobs.

Marketing Plan
Advertisement
Advertisement for business will be placed in local newspaper, flyers hung at local teen hangouts, brochures to be handed out at community events, local schools, hospitals, and health clinics. Advertisement for positions in the business will be placed in local newspaper and in a professional nursing organization.

Example: Ad for Grand Rapids press for 14 days is $120. Ad for Nurse.com cost $500.

Instructor needed
Want to work in a unique role? Teaching youth to be responsible babysitters is the focus of our company. Our instructors must be American Red Cross certified to teach Pediatric CPR and First Aid. We will provide training for the right candidate. Must have valid drivers license and will need to pass a background screening. Educating the public about the importance of hiring certified babysitters is important
Providing a support system, by email or by phone, for the babysitters we certify will help to assure the parents that their children is being looked after by a caring organization.

Who are the neighbors? Contact number of the childs doctor Local emergency numbers Location of important things for the baby Rules of the house Schedule of the baby

The babysitter should ask for it and the parents of the children should be ready with the information

This budget is 4 courses per month (2 five hour classes make up 1 course) with a minimum of 10 students each in each class.

The class cost is $120 per student. Instructor is paid $20 per student ($200). Should take 10 hours to teach class = $20 per hour The president earns $1600 each month working part time 20 hours/week. The office manager earns $800 each month working part time 20 hours/week.

Summary
The Home Alone Prevention Unit has a mission to teach youths the knowledge, skills, leadership abilities, safety, and confidence to provide safe and responsible care for children while babysitting. This organization has a philosophy to protect the health and welfare of children by fostering youths with relevant and accurate information, provide nurturing and positive experiences, and promote professional behavior in the care of children.

The business goals are to provide the community with certified babysitters using evidence-based practice and to be community leaders in safe child care.
Fills a void in the community by offering after course support for babysitters on the job. Has a low overhead budget to help ensure the companys success and promote growth.
