Course Number: ELC724320 Course Title: Configure Computer System and Networks Course Credit: Three (3) Credit Hours Prerequisites: ELC724318 Install Computer System and Networks Placement in Curriculum: Computer Hardware Servicing NC II Instructor: Lornilo S. Alimpuangon
Course Description: This course introduces the students the principles of computer networks in different LAN implementations, Ethernet, protocols, and network hardware connections which are essential to understanding how does networks set up. They could able to manage in connecting computers together to form peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. They will be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills in standard operation and configuration for basic computer networking which currently are in the core of operations of most establishments and enterprises. Overall Objective: They will be equipped to become future computer professionals with knowledge and skills in configuring computer networks based on standard operating procedures set by the industry. Course Objectives: By the end of the semester, the students will be able to:
1. Understand the network architecture and technologies. 2. Understand the how Ethernet works. 3. Distinguish the differences on network cables, network hardware and protocol. 4. Use and apply different network utilities and its configurations. 5. Configure network computers and its connections. 6. Plan, prepare, install and configure a peer- to-peer network. 7. Install printer and perform print configuration. 8. Facilitate and administer a peer-to-peer network. Course Design:
