Lancashire Time Credits Guide

Welcome to Lancashire Time Credits!

Thank you for giving your time to help out your community. You can use Lancashire Time Credits to take part in different activities in and around Chorley. There are also other time credit programmes running across the country in London, Wiltshire, West Norfolk and Wales so you can spend your time credits at activities in these programmes too. For more information about these, go to You should have received at least one time credit as a way of saying thank you for giving your time.

Heres how it works:

Your organisations time credit lead will have a list of all the different ways that you can earn time credits at that organisation and in the local community. Having obtained a degree in Sports Therapy at Edge Hill in 2009 Laura has been treating All manner of injuries mainly related to rugby league. About Chorley Panthers Rugby League Club: Chorley Panthers provides opportunities to participate in the sport of rugby league. They have 18 teams, male and female from 4 years to Masters Rugby. The club have 5 pitches (one floodlit) a clubhouse, gymnasium, 9 changing rooms and a treatment room.

How to book: Bookings should be done by telephone. Opening hours are 10:00am5:00pm, Monday to Friday. If you have any medical conditions, please notify Holistic Enlightenment at the time of booking. About Holistic Enlightenment: Nicola and Louise trained together as holistic therapists. They are fully qualified in anatomy and physiology, aromatherapy, reflexology, body massage and holistic facials.

Truly Therapeutic

Participants are asked to come to the centre 15 minutes before their session for a friendly chat with staff about any medical needs they may have and what they are hoping to get from the class. Duxbury Park Golf Club

What can I spend my credits on? 4 Time Credits= A game on the 18 hole course 2 Time Credits= A game on the 9 hole course 1 Time Credit = A game on the Par 3 Academy course How to book: Places are subject to availability, so simply call in advance to book a tee- off time. Golf shoes are not mandatory and a small amount of golf equipment is available for hire. All abilities are welcome, and the par 3 course is particularly suitable to beginners. Free parking is also available. About Duxbury Park Golf Club: Duxbury Championship Golf course is set in the historic grounds of the Old Duxbury Estate. As well as a range of courses, the venue also features a stylish function area and outdoor seating, serving quality catering in beautiful surroundings!

About Age UK: Age UK is a local charity dedicated to helping older people to have valued and fulfilling lives. They provide information, support services and social activities to help older people to live their lives to the full. Chorley Lifestyle Centre is delivered in partnership with The Brothers of Charity. It is based on Gillibrand Street in Chorley and is open every day of the week to provide a service to the over 50's. Refreshments including hot snacks and hot lunches are available to purchase.

Living Waters Church

Taking Time Out Timeout is chance for reflection away from the hustle and bustle of the week. It offers you an opportunity to take an hour out of your busy day to come and enjoy a short 30 minute midweek service followed by a delicious homemade lunch from our Connect Cafe 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 11.30am to 1pm 1 Time Credit About Living Waters Church: Living Waters Church run a number of projects and aim to connect with the local community. Central Lancashire Dial-a-Ride

How to book: Call dial-a-ride on 01257 260488 and state that youd like to book the trip to Preston using time credits. About dial-a-ride: The dial-a-ride service is available to everyone in the Chorley and South Ribble area that doesnt have access to a car and cannot use public transport easily, either through mobility problems or because no suitable service is available. You can use the service for visiting friends, shopping, social activities, or to access educational activities and employment. All mini-buses are wheelchair accessible and run Monday to Friday between 9am-9.30pm. Dial-a-ride also do trips to a range of places such as Southport, Boundary Mill and Garden Centres and trips on request for days out for groups.

Tours of Astley Hall To book on to a guided tour, call Amy or Emily on 01257 515926. Mention that youre booking with Time Credits. Places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis. Only the ground floor is wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Chorley's famous Astley Hall Museum and Art Gallery is often referred to as the 'Jewel in Chorley's crown' and features among the Simon Jenkins book 'Britain's Best 1,000 Houses'. Guided Ranger Walks No need to book, just come and learn more about Yarrow Valley Country Park on a guided walk with Chorley Councils Rangers. The walk lasts about an hour and can be tailored to most abilities. Meet at Yarrow Valley Country Park Visitor Centre, off Birkacre Road, Chorley, PR7 3QL. Please come dressed for the weather conditions, wearing sturdy footwear. Route includes steps and stiles. Coach House Activity Space The Coach House is a great meeting or activity space, to book call Amy or Emily on 01257 515926 and state that you would like to book the Coach House using time credits. Space at the Coach House is subject to availability. Please call no more than 10 working days in advance of the required date.

About The Creative Network The Creative Network was set up in 2011 to bring creative people in the North West Together. The network aims to facilitate networking support and collaboration in creativity, in the widest possible sense. Their live music events bring communities alive over two evenings, and Chorleys event follows successful live events in both Leyland and Penwortham but bigger!! How to Book Access to the venues is by wristband only and these can be obtained in exchange for 8 time credits at Chorley Councils Reception on Union Street in Chorley Under 12s go free.

About the Arts Partnership: The Arts Partnership is a Charity founded in 1999 by a group of like-minded people who wanted more people to be involved in the Arts. Time credit places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis only for the performances listed. Seats must be booked in advance by calling the box office on 01257 264362 or drop in at Malcolms Musicland, Baptist Chapel, Chapel Street, Chorley. You can also purchase tickets directly from the box office when its open. About Chorley Little Theatre: Originally opened as Chorleys first electric cinema in 1910, Chorley Little Theatre has become a thriving arts venue in the centre of the town. Since 1960 it has been owned and operated by the amateur dramatics group CADOS, who have been putting on high-quality productions for over 75 years. CADOS present at least 6 productions per season.

Clayton Green Leisure Centre also offers a sports hall, squash courts, dance studio, meeting room and pre-school while All Seasons Leisure Centre offers a sports hall, practice hall, squash courts, crche and nursery.


Puddletown Pirates at Botany Bay

Activity Play Centre Contact details: 01257231687 What can I spend my credits on? 1 time credit = 1 hour of play, Monday to Friday Children must be between 1 and 11 years old, maximum height is 4ft 11in. Maximum 2 hours play per user. About Puddletown Pirates: Puddletown Pirates is a childrens indoor play centre situated at the heart of Botany Bay Mill. A mixture of ball pools, scramble nets, Skull Island and the giant galleon pirate ship makes for a great childrens fun centre every day of the week whilst you relax over a cup of coffee! Dont forget that parking is free and children under one play for free!

Cottage museum offers an intriguing glance into typical cottage life 200 years ago. Its a very small museum and just round the corner from judges lodgings. Open from Easter to October.

Clitheroe Castle Musuem

Castle Hill, Clitheroe BB7 1BA 01200 424568 About Clitheroe Castle Museum: Clitheroe castle is great for families. Set in a park with an activity play area just outside. This area gives access to the (ruined) castle. There are activities for children within the museum itself. Clitheroe Castle is of particular interest to anyone keen to know more about the history of the local area, the Normans, castles, and geology. There is a caf and shop, disabled access, parking and facilities. Non-disabled parking is in town, a short walk up a steep hill to the museum and castle.

Lancaster Castle

Castle Hill, Lancaster LA1 1YJ 01524 64998 About Lancaster Castle: Lancaster Castle is great if youre interested in crime and punishment. Its law courts are still in use. Its a great way to learn something about Lancashire history including the 'witch' trials and executions, and castles and heraldry. The Castle offers an exciting cell 'lock in' experience though not suitable for anyone who doesn't like the dark! Standard, timed, guided tours only. Open all year round.


Shop, no caf (but close to city cafes). Visitor toilets available and there is limited disabled parking and access. The Castle is close to Lancaster train station. Lancaster Maritime Museum

St George's Quay, Lancaster LA1 1RB 01524 382264 About Lancaster Maritime Museum: Lancaster Maritime Museum is great for anyone interested in ships and the sea or trade and travel. Its also interesting if youd like to learn more about Morecambe and Lancaster history. There is a caf and shop, disabled access, and free on street parking.

Fleetwood Museum

Queens terrace, Fleetwood FY7 6BT 01253 876621 About Fleetwood Museum: Very informative about the town of Fleetwood, fishing and maritime history. Fleetwood Museum has a cafe, shop and free street parking. Please note there is no disabled access. Open from the 1st April.

Helmshore Mills Textile Museum

About Helmshore Mills textile Museum: A former mill which is partly still working. There are fantastic demonstrations very interesting for all sorts of reasons; Lancashire history, historic machinery, textiles. There is a cafe, shop, disabled access and free parking.

Queen Street Mill textile Museum

Briercliffe, Harle Syke, Burnley, 01282 412555 About Queen Street Mill Textile Museum
Queens Street is a former mill with mill chimney. Parts of the mill are still working. It has impressive coal fired boilers, a working steam engine, and a weaving shed of over 300 Lancashire Looms. Open from 4th March it has a cafe and shop, disabled access and free parking.

Gawthorpe Hall

Gawthorpe Hall is fascinating if youre interested in historic buildings and their interiors or textiles and embroidery. Youll see some excellent sewing and embroidery examples from the Lancashire Civil War and Victorian periods

Judges Lodgings

About Judges Lodgings:

The Judges Lodgings has a lovely historic interior and traditional furniture. If youre interested in old and modern toys, games and play, youll find this museum fascinating. It also houses the Museum of Childhood on the top floor. Its open from Good Friday to October and has a small cafe and shop. There is no disabled access or parking, but parking can be found in the city car parks.

Radio Station Experience - 2 Time Credits On weekdays between 12pm and 6pm, members can spend 2 hours with a radio presenter where they will experience what happens during a live radio show and see how a show is put together, including the technical processes involved. Community Radio Training - 4 Time Credits Members who have enjoyed the radio experience and are interested in learning more about working in radio can attend a 4 hour training session, which will offer a more detailed introduction to radio up to Level 1. Community Notice Board Opportunity - 4 Time Credits Weekday afternoons between 12pm and 3pm, Community Groups can learn how to record their own information commercial promoting their group or organisation, with the help of a presenter working alongside them. The finished commercial will then be played on air at intervals throughout the following week.
