Henry Hand Puppet Ideas Guide

Henry Hand puppet is a series of animated and puppet action DVDs aimed at children under 5. It is suitable for use in schools, nurseries, Sunday Schools, pre-schools and at home. Henry Hand Puppet brings together Bible stories from the Old Testament alongside situations children will recognise from their lives. With cute characters the children can relate to, and simplified versions of Old Testament stories, Henry Hand Puppet brings out teaching points very young children will understand and can apply to their lives. This guide provides helpful suggestions, talking points and activities for adults and children to engage in together and to enhance their understanding of the Bible stories and relate them to the childrens lives.

Use in Schools
The stories on this DVD along with this guide have been written to be compatible with SEAL activities and Religious Education syllabuses from a number of Dioceses. SEAL Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning, has been developed by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and aims to develop the underpinning qualities and skills that help promote positive behaviour and effective learning. Where appropriate the guide identifies the relevant SEAL theme and aspect of learning which is covered by the DVD. As each diocese and local authority has its own RE syllabus, not every story will occur in each syllabus and not every story in the syllabus will be covered. Where appropriate, other aspects of the early years curriculum has been incorporated, such as counting and letter recognition activities.

Breakdown of Material
Each idea guide consists of the following components: ! Talking ! Doing ! Thinking ! Prayer ! Link ideas to help start a conversation with young children about the stories on the DVD and other issues they may face in their lives. fun activities including colouring, games and things to make . further readings from the Bible and other sources and other activities that pick up on the themes of the story. the prayer from the DVD. how the Old Testament stories link to Jesus.

The materials contain a variety of activities: collages, colouring, join the dots, a mask, a map a recipe and many others to entertain and educate children under 5. There is an emphasis on safety and children will need help from adults to complete some activities. It is recommended that young children are closely supervised during all activities. All materials are copyright Taylormation Ltd but may by photocopied by the purchaser only.
