com Dear Bain Consulting Recruitment Team, As a Mathematics and Business Administration double major, I have developed a growing interest in the consulting industry and the numerous challenges it provides. I believe that a career at Bain would be the ideal starting point of a career in consultancy, knowing that I will be working alongside leading professionals in one of the best firms in the industry. Academically speaking, I am on the honor list and heading towards graduating with distinction in both majors. In my first two years, I concentrated on getting advanced coursework in mathematics (probability, statistics, algebra and analysis) and started integrating business courses and more recently focusing on finance courses (valuation, venture capital, securities analysis) and on getting the widest exposure to different business fields. My background in general science and higher mathematics is an invaluable asset when it comes to consultancy: the scientific approach teaches both patience and discipline when confronted with a problem and requires creativity when dealing with complexity. Combined with an internship at Booz & Company, I believe that I have the skillset required to start my career at one of the top consulting firms worldwide. At Booz & Company, I was aligned to the Public Sector practice and was assigned to a vibrant team of four on a municipal restructuring project. I was quickly brought up to date and soon enough I had to deliver: brainstorming ideas, contributing to the main deck and participating in the review sessions of the various documents. The very unfamiliar nature of the practice had me on my toes all the time: I had to learn about the industry and how things worked and it is this learning process that I enjoyed the most. A business case is a puzzle looking to be solved and there is nothing I enjoy more than problem solving. Consultancy is not only a career path I am choosing, but also a life path. I enjoy thinking outside the box because it is the only way one can actually grow smarter, wiser and more knowledgeable and I believe that at Bain, I will always be pushed into new and unfamiliar territory.
