MHS: La Lgion dHonneur The Lgion Dhonneur is sponsored locally.

The purpose of the organization is to recognize high achievement in French and to promote continuing interest in the French language. Selection is done in at the end of the 2nd quarter. In order to qualify, students must be enrolled in French III, IV or V and have an average of 92 or above during the previous year of French (II, III or IV) and the first semester of the current year.

Constitution of La Lgion dHonneur

ARTICLE I: NAME AND PURPOSE Section 1: The name of the organization shall be La Lgion dHonneur. It may also be referred to as La Lgion. Section 2: The purpose of La Lgion dHonneur is to recognize high achievement in French and to promote continuing interest in the French language. Section 3: La Lgion is a local organization, sponsored by Marshwood High School, and under the direction of the teacher(s) of French III - IV/ - V. ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP Section 1: Membership in La Lgion dHonneur is limited to current students of French III, IV, V. Section 2: Active members are currently enrolled in French. Section 3: To qualify for membership a student must have maintained an average of 92 or higher in the previous year of French (II, III, & IV) and at least a 92% average for the first semester (quarter 1 and quarter 2) of the current year.

Section 4: If a member does not continue the study of French, the student may retain the membership pin, but will not be an active member.

ARTICLE III: SELECTION OF MEMBERS

Section 1: Once quarter 1 grades are available in the necessary classes, the French teacher shall notify all qualifying students. Section 2: Students may choose to join if they qualify academically. If a student chooses not to join, he/she will not be asked at a later date. ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS Section 1: Since this is an honorary organization, there are no officers.

ARTICLE V: SUPERVISION Section 1: All activities of La Lgion dHonneur shall be subject to the approval of the advisor.

ARTICLE VI: INSTALLATION OF NEW MEMBERS Section 1: Once a list of new members has been established a date will be set for the installation of new members. (optional) Section 2: At the beginning of the second quarter the new members will be installed. (optional) ARTICLE VII: EMBLEMS AND INSIGNIA Section 1: The insignia of La Lgion dHonneur shall be the fleur-de-lys. Section 2: The motto of La Lgion dHonneur shall be Vouloir cest pouvoir (to want is to be able to) Section 3: The colors of La Lgion dHonneur shall be blue, white, and red. Section 4: The of La Lgion dHonneur shall be the red rose.

ARTICLE VIII: FINANCES Section 1: Dues shall not be assessed from members. Section 2: Financial support shall come from moneys budgeted by the advisor.

ARTICLE XI: AMENDMENTS Section 1: The constitution may be amended by the advisor.
