Profile
I am an Automotive Engineering student looking for summer employment working within the automotive trade. I am available from the 20th of May Until the 20th of September 2014. Hard working, inventive and motivated best describes myself. I am able to work on my own or as part of a team, and I thrive in highly pressurised and challenging working environments.

Education

Experience: I have dismantled and rebuilt both a Rover K-Series and Renault 4 cylinder engine. I understand the basics of both wet and dry sump systems, various intake and exhaust setups, spaceframe and monocoque chassis, ignition systems, cooling systems, Diaphragm clutches, automatic/sequential/dog gear boxes, ARB's, synchromesh and differential units, brake master cylinders/bias adjusters/callipers, drum brakes & rotor materials. I have measured and set up camber, kingpin and castor angles on a formula Renault. I have basic knowledge of how suspension works after dismantling a MacPherson strut on a BMW 1 series , and various characteristics of different coils and damper setups. I have hands on experience of the internals of various CV joints for example the Birfield or Lobro. Work Experience
July 2012: One day's work experience within the Lloyds Building, furthering the knowledge i'd previously gained from my earlier visit. This time working with Rob Rider for the Travelers Syndicate. August 2011: One day's work experience within the Lloyds Building, learning about the basics of Underwriting in the insurance trade. Had the chance to shadow Darren Hines from the Argenta Syndicate and also Sandy Cheetham from the Watkins Syndicate. July 2009: Two weeks work experience with Corridori cycle sport, followed by a few Saturdays work. Duties: till usage, re-stocking, taking orders and basic bike servicing. July 2007: Work experience GCFac Ltd. Given the chance to work alongside Paula Smith for the day and see a day in the life of an insurance broker.

October 2013 - Present: Mechanic at Summertown Cycles. Further knowledge gained in welding. July 2013 - August 2013: Mechanic at The Bike Co. Further knowledge gained in brake bleeding and Dropper post bleeding. Insight into suspension servicing and tuning. July 2012 - May 2013, full time: Mechanic at Pearson Cycle Specialists. Duties included bike servicing, booking in repairs, selling bikes components and accessories, using the till & ordering from distributers. Competent to a high level in all aspects of Bike Service procedures gear indexing, brake adjustment, control adjustment, brake bleeding, wheel building (measurement of spokes, various building patterns & tensioning, dishing and truing), tapping, facing, reaming & Hub servicing. Jan 2010 - July 2012, part- time: Mechanic at Pearson Cycle Specialists (weekends and summer work outside of school time) The oldest bike shop in the world. I have gained a number of key qualities from this employment such as time management, excellent customer service & the ability to work on my own, under pressure to fixed deadlines. Their prestigious title demanded a very high level of customer service; all repair and service work had to be of the highest quality, something I have maintained throughout my career so far. June 2008 - Jan 2010: Sutton Guardian paper round.

Knowledge, Skills and Hobbies

My hobbies include mountain biking, motorsport & music. I started mountain biking well over 8 years ago, ever since then I have been engrossed by the sport and excellent community it creates. I am now on my 9th custom bike build after purchasing various frames and building them up from scratch, I also have a competitive side and never miss an opportunity for a race down the local trails with friends or at the weekend at one of the many local downhill tracks. When I am not competing, I enjoy volunteering as a Marshall at mountain bike events. I was part of a league winning football team for over 6 years showing commitment and my ability to work within a team. I also enjoy karting and was recently picked with a handful of others for a test day at Whilton Mill in club 100 karts to try out for the Oxford Brookes Karting Team. I am friendly, trustworthy and presentable. I enjoy graphical drawing and have a basic understanding of CAD packages such as Solidworks. My hands on ability has been proven whilst recently producing a G-clamp. Using a tools and processes such as a lathe, milling machine, pillar drills (including power tapping), electric grinders, belt sanders, CNC machines, MIG welding, Heat treatment to steels and pressing with a flypress. I have a basic understanding of all forms of welding & brazing. My workshop knowledge is of a high understanding after working for over 4 years in various workshops in the UK and Canada.
