ust a forty-five minute drive from Cagliari airport, the warm
hospitality of the Forte Village awaits you with open arms. An
oasis of tranquillity and relaxation, immersed in a lush 25
hectare tropical garden. The resort offers a faboulous choice of
rooms, suites and bungalows scattered between lushly landscaped
gardens, sports grounds and swimming pools. There are activities
to suit all ages, from the sophistication of the Thalassotherapy
centre, with its seawater tubs, mud bath and gym facilities, to the
fun of the Mini Club, where children aged three to eleven can make
friends and play under the supervision of trained staff. For the
sports enthusiast, the Forte Village is an ideal location. The choice
of leisure activities is impressive. It includes 12 floodlit tennis
courts, putting green, go-kart track and a host of watersports
available from the mile-long, white sandy beach. There is also a
wealth of distinctive restaurants offering a vast range of cuisine;
from Italian to Brazilian as well as the culinary acclaimed L'Etoile,
all serving first-rate and wonderfully presented dishes. Plus there
is constant entertainment perfect for everyone and some
wonderful shopping opportunities in the Piazza Maria Luigia, the
heart of the Resort with the newly renovated arcade of shops and
boutiques.

History

R
ight from its opening, Forte Village Resort stood out from
other structures because it was clear it was in continuous
evolution, focusing great care and attention on the
changing needs and wishes of its guests. Its history began when
Lord Charles Forte, an Englishman but with Italian roots and at the
time Chairman of the Trust House Forte Chain, recognised the
tourist potential of this unmatched corner of Nature situated on
the south western coast of Sardinia all that made it noteworthy at
the time was a verdant pine wood and an unspoilt snowy white
beach. We're talking of April 1970, when the resort opened its
doors to guests with inauguration of the bungalows in 'Il Villaggio'
followed on 20 June of the same year by the opening of Hotel
Castello. At the time, when the resort was still known as Trust
House Forte, these were the only two hospitality solutions,
offering a total of 650 rooms. But Charles Forte was bent on
creating an innovative concept of vacation, addressing the needs
of a young, sports-oriented clientele and, albeit southern Sardinia
was very poorly developed from a tourist point of view, his project
found fertile ground. Subsequently, indeed, other services were
added and other hotels were built, works being coordinated by
Francesco Pecorelli, who acted as manager from 1975 to 1994. In
1987 the Pool of Baia delle Palme was inaugurated while in 1989,
when the resort officially took the name of Forte Village, Villa del
Parco and Il Pineta opened. In 1990 came the turn of the Thermae
del Parco. And this was the beginning of a change in course in the
direction of a new clientele and a new mentality, targeting a fresh
concept of style and elegance. In 1994, Charles Forte purchased

the Le Meridien Company and Forte Village automatically became
a part of this group. Thanks to a public purchase offer, in 1996 the
Company passed into the hands of the Granada Group. The period
in the doldrums which the chain experienced in 1994, led, in the
following year, to handover of management to its actual General
Manager, Lorenzo Giannuzzi. And it was under his guidance that
Forte Village, reversing the tendencies of a market poorly
responsive to the needs of a select cosmopolitan clientele, took
great strides in the direction of new horizons of refinement,
elegance and international exclusiveness. From that point on
began the process of the repositioning of the structure on the
market, with achievement of the status of a unique exclusive
product through a wider offer of services and the transformation of
almost one third of its accommodation capacity to the luxury
sphere. This was done by extending the range of its hotels and
diversifying their offer based on the absolute quality of services,
by creating the unobtrusive refined charm of the suites and, in the
choice of furnishings, enhancing a link with the elegance of
Sardinian culture. A true driving force, Lorenzo Giannuzzi carried
forward conversion of part of Hotel Il Villaggio into other structures
such as Le Dune (1994) or Le Palme (1998). In 1997 we see the
creation of the fourth floor of Hotel Castello offering exclusively
luxury rooms and suites. In the same year, renovations were
completed on the bungalows of Villa del Parco and in 1998 the
searchlight was turned on the new go-kart track, the putting green
and the Miniclub pools. Then, over the past few years, the splendid
emergence of the new suites of Cala del Forte, Boathouse,
Beachcomber, Nora, Chia and Bithia, not forgetting the Royal Suite
of Hotel Castello, the Resort's real trump card. So there has been a
decided increase in the level of services offered, and this factor has
gone hand in hand with the level of visibility of the Resort in the
Media. Thus Forte Village becomes an aspirational product on the
Italian, English and French markets, listing among its clients jet-
setters of the world of finance, stage and screen, sport and culture
who register a degree of fidelity in excess of 50%. This incessant
evolution still continues as we write and through creation of new
and better services including increase in the number of
restaurants and boutiques, and the upgrading of the Thermae del
Forte Village and Leisureland, the resort is reconfirmed as a
leading, cutting-edge product on the international tourism scene.
The history and success of Forte Village is the end product of the
philosophy which has inspired its management for years, based on
just a few basic principles such as the co-existence of innovation,
continuity and tradition; deep attention to the needs and wishes of
its clients; constant measuring with its competitors; the
motivation and flexibility of its staff; management by example;
always being one step ahead in sensing new market trends but
above all offering such a vast choice of accommodation and
services that it represents a destination of itself rather than just a
simple resort.

 Lorenzo Giannuzzi

F
or the past 13 years Lorenzo Giannuzzi has acted as the
master mind behind the outstanding successes of Forte
Village. His exceptional management skills have taken
this luxurious, many times award-winning resort situated at
Santa Margherita di Pula to scale the peaks of world hotel and
hospitality excellence. He was born at Aiello Calabro in 1950
and after taking an accounting diploma, he continued his
studies in famous international institutions such as the Hotel
Management School of Lausanne and the University of
Pennsylvania where he was awarded an AMP diploma at the
Wharton Business School. But this was not the end of his
training pathway he went on to take further courses at the
School of Hotel Administration of Cornell University. The 'love
at first sight' with Forte Village took place in 1978 when he
ended up there for a training course at reception. From that
point in time, he has accepted a series of new challenges,
bringing him to manage and direct some of the most
important hotel structures in Italy and abroad: the Hotel Eden
in Rome, Palazzo della Fonte at Fiuggi, Grosvenor House in
London, Sandy Lane in Barbados, the Eurotel Montreux in
Switzerland and the Hotel Fleur d' Epée in Guadalupe. After a
period as CEO of the world famous Caribbean & Western
Atlantic chain, in 1995 he found himself back at Forte Village
in the position of General Manager and CEO, also acting as
Vice President and CEO of the Le Meridien Group for Italy and
the Southern Mediterranean. In the twenty years of his
brilliant career he has swept the board, achieving prestigious
awards and recognition such as to mention just a few - the
Five star Diamond Award as One of the Finest Corporate
Hoteliers awarded by the American Academy of Hospitality
Sciences, in 2000 the Premio Excellent, and in July 2006 a
Laurea Honoris causa (honorary degree) awarded by the
International Tourism Academy of Russia.

LE DUNE

As beautiful as the sun setting over the sea. Le Dune features 39

situated on the beach and with magnificent sea views, offers an

VILLA DEL PARCO

Serenely nestled in an intimate corner of the Forte Village, the

award winning Villa del Parco & Spa offers 47 luxurious and
spacious guest rooms, bungalows and stunning waterfront suites
decorated in typical Sardininian décor. Villa del Parco is just a
stones throw from the 'Thaermae del Forte Village' and only a
minute's walk from the sea. Its spacious rooms feature private

IL CASTELLO

An exclusive kingdom, the hotel Castello is one of the most refined

hotels in the Mediterranean. Situated near the sea in one of the
Forte Village's most secluded corners, the hotel offers 8 different
room types, decorated in characteristically Sardinian style with
either a balcony or a terrace overlooking the gardens or the sea.
All 181 rooms and suites feature private bathrooms with bath and

IL BORGO

Reminiscent of a seaside fishing village and with spectacular

views, Il Borgo evokes the atmosphere of Sardinia. Each of the 56

ROYAL PINETA

A small palace in the heart of our pine forest. This will be the new
face of the Hotel Royal Pineta, with a completely renovated
bathroom area with fine details. The 34 double and triple rooms
are spread over 2 levels, for those who desire greater space and
comfort.

LA PINETA

Amidst a Mediterranean forest and in one of the Resort's most

relaxing areas, La Pineta is made up of three complexes offering
102 Superior or Family rooms featuring private bathrooms with
bath or shower, air conditioning, direct dial telephone, colour
television with satellite channels, mini-bar and safe.

LE PALME

Close to the seaside, Le Palme's 140 bungalows offer two different

types of accommodation; Superior Family and Family Plus which
feature private patios. Each of the bungalows feature private
bathrooms with shower or bath, air-conditioning and heating,
direct dial telephone, colour television with satellite channels,
mini-bar and safe.

IL VILLAGGIO

Hidden among palm trees and multi-coloured flowers, the 158

bungalows of Il Villaggio are divided into Superior Family and
Family 'plus' bungalows which feature private patios. Each
bungalow features a bathroom with shower (some with bath), air-
conditioning and heating, direct dial telephone, colour television
with satellite channels, mini-bar and safe.

CASTELLO

From here you could almost touch the sky. In an ambience of

complete privacy and luxury, the Forte Village offers its most
exclusive suite overlooking an infinite sea. Guests staying at the
Royal Suite can enjoy a private elevator and open-air swimming
pool whilst the bedroom and living room of the presidential Suite
open onto a splendid terrace where guests can re-energise in a
Jacuzzi bath. On the same floor are the spacious and light Nora,
Chia and Bithia Suites offering stunning views of the surrounding
pine forests and sea. The Suites are linked internally and via the
terrace with an adjoining Deluxe Roof Room. Every suite is

CALA DEL FORTE

Like a diamond sparkling in the sun, the rooms at Cala del Forte are
beautiful and exclusive. A stunning private entrance leads to the 4
enchantingly positioned suites. Each suite features an anteroom
which can be opened onto the adjoining suite to form a single 400
square meter apartment. Each suite boasts a spectacular terrace
overlooking the sea, the sound of the waves is the perfect start to
the day or ideal for a romantic evening. The bedroom, featuring 2
queen sized beds, and the bathroom, equipped with whirlpool tub
and shower, are slightly raised vis-à-vis the elegant living room.

BEACHCOMBER & BOAT HOUSE

A kingdom of delights. Stroll through the lemon groves and

scented gardens surrounding our suites and take in the
breathtaking sea views. The two Boat-house Beach Suites feature
direct access to the beach and a magnificent sea front terrace.
Each suite has two queen-sized beds, bathroom with whirlpool tub

Thaermae del Forte Village

F
orte Village Resort boasts a fantastic spa that has recently
qualified as a Leading Spa of the World, specially chosen for
its outstanding spa facilities, spa treatments and spa
services. The Spa is set in tropical gardens where guests can treat
themselves to a new type of Thalassotherapy in six high saline-
density sea pools along with a sauna, Turkish bath and gym.
The Thaermae del Forte medical team, in collaboration with the
Milan University, carried out research on traditional
Thalassotherapy (the science that exploits the beneficial effects of
seawater on the body) and proved that the climate at Forte Village,
in Santa Margherita di Pula situated on the south-west coast of
Sardinia is perfect for this type of treatment. As a result, Milan
University gave top marks to the Thaermae del Forte Research and
Thalasso-therapy Centre thanks to the extraordinary team and
unrivalled natural splendour of the Resort.
The Resort has also added a new and exclusive natural element to
the traditional Thalassotherapy: the sea oil. This has the highest
density of salt and its exclusive formula increases the beneficial
effects of the “traditional Thalassotherapy” methods.
After scientific studies and rigorous testing, the sea oil (the term
“oil” is used as it has a similar consistency to oil) forms the basis of
this new Thalassotherapy method. Salt, marine olio-elements and
organic components combine to favour a natural physiological
balance with a therapeutic and preventive action.
The sea oil is a natural patented product and the high
concentration of magnesium salt helps to accelerate the ionic
exchanges within the body. And so, together with the therapeutic
properties of the Mediterranean's waters that are the cornerstone
of the Resort's Thalassotherapy treatments, they have added all
the advantages of saline high density. The effects are draining,
anti-oedema (in all kinds of localised or wide-spread oedemas
resulting from traumas and other situations) mio-relaxing
(muscular traumas or contractions, dystrophy or atrophies) and
are also therapeutic in allergic derma pathologies and other skin
problems (for example acute psoriasis) and in non-pathological
skin diseases (first degree cellulite). Furthermore, thanks to its
physical properties, patients who use the high-density saline baths
can float in the water, making it possible to treat all kinds of osteo-
articular disorders.
As with all Thalassotherapy centres, the baths are heated to
temperatures between 20°C and 38°C providing not only the
benefits of the water's density but also the therapeutic properties
of high and low temperatures.

Bath N° 1 with sea oil

The temperature of this bath is about 30/38°C and it has a high
density of magnesia chloride. This bath is unique in the world. It is
a cornerstone of Forte Village's Thalassotherapy treatments and is
used for therapeutic relaxation. The magnesia salt makes the
water dark and has an efficacious thalasso-therapeutic and
antistress effect. The density of the water is even higher than in the
Dead Sea and the exchanges between the patient and the sea are
brought to its maximum level.

Bath N° 2 with Aloe

The “Mare d'Aloe” is a pool which combines the benefits of sea oil
with the anti-inflammatory properties of Aloe.

Bath N° 3 with a high integral saline concentration

Like Bath N° 1, the temperature is 30/38°C. Its therapeutic effects
complete those of Bath N°1 and the exchanges between the body
and the sea continue. In this pool it is possible to carry out
particular therapeutic water treatments thanks to the effects of the
high density that allows the body to float in the water.

Bath N° 4
The temperature remains at 30/38°C but different levels of
hydromassage give a pleasant therapeutic effect as in traditional
Thalassotherapy methods.

Bath N° 5
The temperature of this bath is 26/30 °C. The therapeutic action of
the different temperatures combine with the therapeutic action of
the Mediterranean waters and the positive energy of
hydromassage for a fundamental vein constriction action in
peripheral circulatory pathologies.

Bath N° 6
The temperature of this bath can get as low as 20°C. This large
pool, a toning and regenerating bath with hydromassage, is ideal
after the warm baths and the best place for individual and group
hydro-gym lessons.

The thalasso-therapeutic methods of the Thaermae del Forte also

include the application of other natural elements, such as marine
mud with a sea oil base, seaweeds and native salt; and the
application of the sea oil on the body at a temperature of 20 °C
(uniquely, this particular water does not freeze at such a low
temperature).These treatments complement Thalassotherapy
and add to the draining, anti stress, and therapeutic effects of the
five pools. At the Thaermae del Forte every whim can be catered
for from osteopathic treatments to Shiatsu massage, from water-
gym to jacuzzi baths, from lymphodrainage to classical beauty
treatments. Guests can also be enchanted by the anti-stress
caress of the Aromatherapy massage and by the Oriental softness
of the gommage massage an invigorating rubdown in the scented
steam of the Turkish baths, with alternate salt, lemon and honey to
provide a wave of pleasure that wraps the entire body in light.
Thaermae del Forte is not only an exclusive and relaxing setting.
For a more personal analysis the medical staff are always available
and can provide suggestions, personal consultations and dietetic
alimentary analysis.

FITNESS
In the Fitness Club of the Thaermae del Forte a personal trainer can
advise the guests on planning a training schedule as well as offer
assistance in achieving fitness goals. The Fitness Club is totally
composed of Technogym equipment that allows the trainers to
customize training programmes through the smartkey system, a
simple tool where training information is downloaded which then
records workout results. Last but not least, in order to improve the
concept of customising programmes for the guests and to improve
quality and service, a brand new series of Technogym machines,
the Biostrength, are available in the Fitness Club. These machines
are a new and revolutionary concept in strength equipment that
use gravity in association with electronic control in order for
training to be comfortable and effective.

anxiety, insomnia, and hypo-excitability. The thalassotherapy

Shiatsu massage
In Japanese, shiatsu literally means “pressing with fingers”. it is
a holistic treatment that helps restoring and improving overall

Four Hands Massage

Two masseurs work on your body at once resulting in double
stimulation, double physical and mental stretching. The
simultaneous use of four hands coupled with the warm aromatic
oils increase the sense of energy, toning muscle and increasing
circulation.

Massage with salt and aloe

This wonderful treatment can tone the skin and help with fluid

Osteopathy

The chirotherapy or vertebral manipulation is based on the idea

Thalasso Massage

Sea oil
This has anti-inflammatory properties so is great for
dermatological and orthopaedic problems.

A sea of aloe and a sea of aloe in gel

This is a cosmetic that combines cold Aloe Vera gel and sea oil. It is
great for reducing cellulite and when used on hair has anti-
dandruff properties.

Aloe's mellitum
The Aloe's mellitum is a concentrate of vitamins, essential fatty
acids and mineral salts. It has hydrating, anti-inflammatory and
nutritional benefits. It can help with gastritis and ulcers, as well as
rheumatic and arthritic pains.

Integrated Beauty. Thanks to its products and techniques,
Thaermae del Forte Village has created a range of special
treatments.

The light of salt

This oxygenates and brightens the skin, preparing it for the
benefits of the thalassotherapeutical treatments. A thin coat of salt
mixed with the sea oil is applied to the skin with a soft massage
resulting in smooth, bright and radiant complexion.

Mud bath treatment with sea oil

This can purify and stimulate the skin as well as help with fluid
retention and muscular pains.

Cryotherapy
The sea oil is applied to the body at the temperature of 20°C. It
produces a pleasant sensation of cold and together with the sea oil
can improve circulation.

H ave fun, stay in shape and discover new talents at The

Forte Village Resort there is a sport for everyone. Both
families and couples can enjoy a variety of impressive
recreational activities. From 12 well lit tennis courts, to a nine-hole
putting green, several mini soccer fields and basketball or
volleyball courts. Professional instructors are on hand to offer
tennis lessons, windsurfing, aerobics, water-skiing, scuba diving
and sailing (Laser, Caravel, Hobie Cat catamarans). If you feel up
to the challenge we regularly host water polo, mini-soccer and
table tennis tournaments. Horse riding is available very nearby
whilst for golf enthusiasts the 27-hole Is Molas world famous golf
course, one of the most beautiful in Italy, and the brand new 'pitch
& putt' on the beach at the Chia Golf Club are also easily
accessible.

Leisure Land
F orte Village offers something for everyone: be it a go-karting
competition, a bowling match or practicing your routine on
the ice- rink, even in the height of summer! There is a certain
holiday vibe that runs through Forte Village with the heart of the
excitement taking place at the Piazza Maria Luigia with daily live
entertainment and at the Millenium nightclub every night.
Go-Karting: and for the speed demons among you, we have a 500
metre race-track. The course is designed like a Formula 1 track:
breath-taking turns and counter-turns, the starting grill, traffic
lights and when it's over, a bottle of champagne for the winner on
the podium.
Bowling: challenge your friends for a fun afternoon or how about a
game after dinner? On the seven regulation bowling alleys, the
true bowlers among you will have the chance to show off your
talent.
Trampolining: great fun for all ages are our two fantastic
trampolines. Attempt to do a somersault or backflip to really wow
your friends!

We give you giant screens, real windows into the future and the
vibrant light of liquid crystal. You will find yourself in pole position
on a Formula One racetrack, or on the green of a magnificent golf
course or baseball field scoring the deciding point for your team.

T hinking of an ordinary Miniclub? Think again. From next
summer Forte Village will welcome your children to the
extraordinary “Città dei Bambini” (Children's City): a real
paradise in which to grow and develop talents, where large spaces,
great teachers, wonderful opportunities and enormous smiles
await them. In our magnificent, innovative laboratories, your
children will be able to discover the secrets of Italian cooking,
ceramics, painting, music, dance, and why not creative writing?
