Cathy Cooper, Membership Director Membership The benefit of a Y membership is much more than a great workout. The Y can help you build stronger relationships, provide opportunities for community participation, and teach you new skills. Your Y membership will help you enhance your mind, body, and spirit. The Bloomsburg Area YMCA wants its benefits to be accessible to everyone regardless of age, background, ability, or income. Our Financial Assistance Program is available to those who qualify. Financial assistance forms may be picked up at our front desk. YMCA Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

Member Benefits Your membership includes a facility full of caring staff, aerobics/fitness classes, childwatch while you work out, open gym, priority registration for all classes/programs, and member discounts. Corporate Memberships its a proven fact that a healthy workforce is a more productive workforce. Participation in the YMCA Corporate Program works wonders, giving your employees increased energy, reduced stress, and a more positive outlook on their jobs! Preschool
Vicki Mihalik, Preschool Director
Our Preschool program is open to all children ages three to five and is dedicated to providing educational, social, and recreational activities in an atmosphere of joyful learning and mutual respect. Classes are taught by Preschool Director Vicki Mihalik, a certified teacher with forty-three years experience, thirty-one of which have been with the YMCA and Cindy Flick, Preschool Assistant, with twenty-nine years in our Preschool. 3 - 4 year olds meet two half-days per week and emphasize socialization, language development, independence and motor skills in a small group setting.

Y-Care Before & After School


Allison DiParlo, Childcare Director Our School Age Child Care, for ages 5 to 12 years, provides a safe and structured environment with many activities to keep your child busy and focused. Some of the activities your child will experience while enrolled in Y-Care are Homework time with BU Tutors Crafts Games Gym time Outdoor Activities

4 - 5 year olds offer two options: two halfdays per week, or three half-days per week. Both classes emphasize pre-kindergarten activities. Readiness, language development, social skills, pre-reading and printing, motor skills, and work habits are all taught in a positive environment with emphasis on individual abilities

Child care is available Monday through Friday, before and after school. We also provide all-day care for scheduled, non-weather related school closings. We have three locations to serve your needs. Bloomsburg Memorial Elementary W.W. Evans Elementary Central Columbia Elementary

Childwatch
Our YMCA has a pleasant environment for your children ages 3 months to 12 years old in our childwatch program. While you work out, your children are cared for by our qualified YMCA staff. Childwatch hours: Monday: 8:30-11:00am & 4:15pm -7:45pm Tuesday: 4:15pm -6:30pm Wednesday: 8:30-11:00am & 4:15pm -6:30pm Thursday: 4:15pm -7:45pm Friday: 8:30-11:00am Saturday: 8:30am-11:00am

Mind & Body


The Bloomsburg Y is proud to offer our 10 week Math and Literacy enrichment programs for grades Pre K 8. Our tutoring sessions are run by Bloomsburg Universitys Elem entary and Mid-level Education Majors. We offer two options for your childs educational needs. Wednesday Tutoring February 12 th - April 30th 3:45pm-4:45pm During Wednesday Tutoring sessions we will help with homework, play educat ional games, and other activities that are age appropriate. Member $30 Non-Member $45 Saturday Morning Mind & Body February 8 th - April 26th 9:30am-11:30am Mind & Body offers one hour of math and literacy tutoring followed by an hour of fun physical activity. Member $45 Non-Member $60

Youth Sports & Fitness


Youth Strength Training
This is a circuit weight training class to teach you proper functional bodyweight and compound movements. This class will increase your core strength and cardiovascular system. The group setting makes for a fun environment to keep everyone motivated. Youth 6th 12th grade. Tuesday & Thursdays 3:00-3:45pm Member: $20 or $3 per class Non-Member $75 or $6 per class

1 hr class Instructor/Child Ratio 1:6 Gymnastics 1 (Age 6-11)
Our coaches follow the USA Gymnastics Level 1 skills for vault, bars, beam and tumbling following USAG Safety Guidelines. (Must be age 6 by session start date.) Choose One: Wednesday 6:00 pm 7:00 pm Saturday 11:30 pm - 12:30 pm

Mommy and Me
Mommy & Me Gymnastics (Walking-Age 3) Certified teachers assist parent/guardians in the how-to of exploring movement activities that include rolling, swinging, hand apparatus, music and motor skills. Basic socialization skills like sharing, taking turns and following instructions are gently introduced. Physical developmental skills suggested by USA Gymnastics are followed. Wednesday 9:30 am 10:15 am

Gymnastics 2 (Age 6-11)


Children with previous gymnastics experience will learn USA Gymnastics Level 2 skills on vault, bars, beam and tumbling following USAG Safety Guidelines. Child must be able to perform a minimum of a cartwheel and handstand without assistance to enroll in this class. Choose One: Tuesday 5:30 pm 6:30 pm Thursday 6:30 pm 7:30 pm Saturday 12:30 pm 1:30 pm

TumbleBug Gymnastics (Age 3) Small class size allows children to learn at their own pace under the direct supervision of an experienced instructor. Gymnastic and movement skills developmentally appropriate for this age are strictly followed Choose One: Wednesday 10:30 am 11:15 am Thursday 4:30 pm 5:15 pm Saturday 9:30 am 10:15 am

Gymnastics 3 (Age 6-11)


Children with previous gymnastics experience will learn USA Gymnastics Level 3 skills on vault, bars, beam and tumbling following USAG Safety Guidelines. Enrollment in this class must be approved by instructor. Choose One: Tuesday 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm Saturday 1:30 pm 2:30 pm

Gymnastics Fitness (Age 3-6) A gymnastics fitness class for mixed ages that is fun and challenging. Focus is on strength, flexibility and aerobic conditioning Choose One: Wednesday 11:30 am 12:15 pm Wednesday 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm

Gymnastics 4 (Age 6-11)


Children with previous gymnastics experience will learn USA Gymnastics Level 4 skills on vault, bars, beam and tumbling following USAG Safety Guidelines. Enrollment in this class must be approved by instructor. Choose One: Tuesday 6:30 pm 7:30 pm Saturday 1:30 pm 2:30 pm

Boys Gymnastics (age 6-11)


TumbleBee Gymnastics (Age 4-5) A full range of gymnastic and movement activities including rolling, swinging, balancing and other gross motor and fine motor skills all developmentally appropriate and following USA Gymnastics safety guidelines. Child must be age 4 by session start date. Choose One: Monday 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm Tuesday 4:30 pm 5:30 pm Thursday 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Saturday 10:30 am 11:30 am

Fall/Winter Baseball Clinic


Professional coach Josh Epstein.
Josh is currently the head pitching coach for Bloomsburg University. During the clinic Josh will work with each player on hitting, fielding, team defense, pitching mechanics, building arm strength, speed and agility, and strength training. This clinic is open to any baseball player ages 8-17. Ages: Minors 8-12 Majors 13-17 Fees: 10 Dates: $250 20 Dates: $450

BAY Swim Team

This Year is BAYs 25 th Season!!! Come join all the the fun, excitement, and friendships that our BAY swim team has to offer. Our coaches are dedicated to teaching our youth the fundamentals of swimming. We also o ffer scholarships and financial aid. There are no prior requirements or skills needed to join the team; however , we do ask each swimmer to come with the ability to swim 25 yards in the pool unassisted. The season begins in October and ends in March. BAY recently joined the Pen Del League, Monroe County Division. We have five league meets and multiple invitational meets. Our season kicks off with the BAY Invitational, Hallowswim . All swimmers must be members of the YMCA. Healthy Living
Strong Moms
Beginning February 10 th This six week program is about moms supporting other moms through a full body workout created for all fitness levels using strollers and resistance bands. Babies ranging from newborn to 3 years of age are welcome.

1, 2, 3 Fit
1,2,3 Fit is a personal training program available to all new members. This program will provide the jump start needed to get into a regular exercise routine. You will meet with one of our certified trainers for 3 half hour sessions and they will develop a program specific to your need! Member $25

Discover Your Health


Healthways SilverSneakers
Healthways offers a number of older-adult programs including the SilverSneakers Fitness Program. SilverSneakers is the nations leading exercise program designed exclusively for Medicare-eligible adults and for Group Retirees. SilverSneakers offers physical activity, health education and social events, helping to reduce health care costs driven by the physical and mental effects of aging and physician and hospital visits. Many locations offer amenities such as fitness equipment, treadmills, free weights, and signature SilverSneakers classes, which are designed specifically for older adults and taught by certified instructors. Additional signature classes may be offered by select locations.

Healthy Living

Silver Sneakers- Muscular Strength & Range of Movement Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/for standing support. Classes meet Tuesday & Thursday 9:30am 1:30pm

Silver Sneakers II- Cardio Circuit Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball is alternated with nonimpact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises. Classes meet Tuesday & Thursday 8:30am

Classes for active older adults


Drums Alive Gold Combining traditional aerobics & the powerful beats & rhythms of the drum. A workout for mind, body and spirit and can be modified for any fitness level. Modified Yoga - The class offers a gentle approach for those with health issues or limited mobility. The poses are mostly done seated in a chair or using the chair for stability. Optional floor work may be offered. This class can also be useful for those who are deskbound. You can learn chair yoga poses for those few minutes during the day when you need a little calm and relaxation.

Walk for Wellness - 45 minute class for active older individuals seeking cardiovascular endurance through walking both indoors and out! The program will incorporate weights for a more challenging experience if desired.
