PRINCIPALS REPORT

14th July to 19th September 6th October to 19th December

On a beautiful summers morning on Thursday 30th January, our Year One to Year Six students returned from holidays and commenced school for 2014. They quickly settled into their new classrooms with their classroom teachers. The next morning our 2014 Foundation students commenced looking very cute in their summer uniforms. As our four Foundation grades busily engaged in many hands on activities, parents were invited to attend a Tea and Tissues morning tea put on by our Parent Club. I enjoyed welcoming everyone and inviting them to enjoy a cuppa and a get to know you chat. Altogether a sensational start to the year at Warragul North Primary School.

TERM ONE TOPICS

To assist parents to support their childs learning listed below are the term one topics for each year level. Warragul North Primary School has a combined scope and sequence plan (Foundation to Year Six) for History, Geography and Science. The plan ensures a balanced, sequential curriculum based on AusVELS is provided to our students.

MATHS ONLINE
Online Mathematics resource for all students Maths Online is Australia's leading computer-based training program designed to complement what your child is being taught in class. This program offers all students from Prep to Year Twelve the opportunity to develop and practise their mathematical skills through online tutorials. All lessons are based on the Australian Curriculum. Maths Online is deigned to support teachers, students and parents. It helps guide students through lessons, allowing them to pause, rewind and repeat all or part of any lesson until they fully understand. The tutorials are presented using visual and audio animation. Maths Online allows teachers to set learning tasks based on topics being covered within the grade and receive up-to-date feedback on student progress. The Maths Online program also offers interactive features where students can practice their times tables and develop their speedy number facts. It also provides our students with a wonderful opportunity to gain extra support or extension. Again this year, the staff of Warragul North Primary School will be using Maths Online as an integral part of their Mathematic Program. A reminder to all parents, that Maths Online is still available to all students who purchased this online resource during 2013. New passwords for the current 2014 year (running from late February 2014 to February 2015) will be issued within the next few weeks after payment ($20.00) for 2014 has been received. Mellisa Manuel, ICT Co-ordinator

To assist parents with parking rules around the school, a map explaining legal parking areas and traffic flow was sent home last week. Please be aware that reserved parking areas are for staff use only. Just a friendly reminder that the disabled parking space provided outside the administration building is for people with a disabled parking permit only.
