Proposal Form Title of magazine I wish to produceI wish to produce a Hip Hop/R&B magazine named Rebels&Billboards.

The title is a play on the abbreviation of R&B and it was most popular in my quantitative target audience research as in my questionnaires, it was chosen the most. Explanation of choice of genreI chose this specific genre as it is one of my preferred music genres and so I thought I could relate to it better and produce a magazine perfect for my target audience as I chose a target audience very similar to myself. Also in my target audience research, Hip Hop/R&B came out as a popular preferred music genre. Target audienceMy target audience is girls aged 16-25. My target audience would share an interest in the Hip Hop/R&B genre and use it as a sense of rebellion. They would also share an interest in fashion and celebrity gossip. My magazine will be for all ethnicities of a working class. Initial ideas for my cover pageI want my cover page to have a main image that is a medium close up a girls face. The girl will be highly related to my chosen genre. This will be shown through the miss-en-scene of her clothing and jewelry. It will have a plain white background (taken in the photography studio). The main cover line will be a pull quote taken from the interview with the artist (found on double page spread). The masthead will be at the top of the page, bold black writing with mulitcoloured fillers. Initial ideas for contents pageThe layout will be boxed and structured with the page numbers located in the middle of the page. Using the same colour scheme and background as the cover I will also have miniature images scattered on the page in a Polaroid style. All images will relate back to the cover lines, which will be highlighted on the page. Initial ideas for double page spreadA picture of the cover model will cover one of my pages and the other page will contain the article/interview. The page will again have a white background to follow on from the cover and contents page. A pull quote will accompany the image on the opposite page. Also littler images will be scattered around the text in relation. Initial ideas about photographsCover page- medium close up of a girl model looking moody and stern. White background. The miss-en-scene would be a blue baseball top and gold jewelry. Contents page- three smaller images of different girls. One of a girl looking like a paparazzi photograph, the other two staged. All photographs would link to the coverlines.

Double page spread- it will be the same model from my cover page, however the miss-en-scene will be changed to show a softer side to the genre. The image will replicate a Rihanna photograph taken from her rolling stones shoot, however she will not have a cigarette. The page will also contain smaller paparazzi images to showcase her fashion.
