We used to put packing around the stem and compact to ensure tightness of the stem which sticks out of the cover. But now we apply the retightening force of the spring to the surface between the packing and that between the stem shoulder and the cover shoulder to ensure tightness. The opening torque will be reduced.

Fire Safe and Anti-Static Design for Slide Entry Floating Bore Ball Valves Design Feature
Fire Safe and Anti-Static Design Floating Ball Valve
a. Fire Safe Seat Sealing

floating ball valves fire safe is designed in accordance with API 607 & API SPEC 6FA. When non-metal resilient seats are destroyed in a fire, the upstream medium pressure push the ball into the downstream metal seat lip to cut off the line fluid and prevent the internal leakage due to a secondary metal-to-metal seals.

b. Blow-out Proof Stem

c. Anti-Static Device

The stem is designed with integral T-type shoulder to Antistatic devices between ball & stem and stem & body are provide blow-out proof effectively. It is internally inserted assembled by a spring & a stainless steel ball, which ensure as the backseat function to assure stem sealing safety at all all metal valve parts are grounding. pressures

d. Low Emission Packing

Because of frequent opening and closing of the valve, normal graphite granule can be drawn by the stem, which will cause leakage. Lanus designed low emissions valve use special low emissions packing to ensure the seal of stem. The cone packing is made of expanding graphite in die-formed rings and has features of heat resistance, less stress relaxation and low creep. With this special structure, it allows for a low-friction on rotary & rising stem valve, therefore providing the stabilized sealing performance for long cycle life. For low temperature service, the standard V shape PTFE packing rings are used for low emissions control.

e. Controlled Stem and Stuffing Box Finish

Its also a key point to control the stem and stuffing box finish when machining. The stem is made by cold rolling and stem surface finish is controlled by Ra0.4, which can reduce friction for stem moving and ensure the graphite to fill and migrate into the stems micro scratches, and function as a lubricant to reduce stem leakage. The stuffing box surface is controlled within Ra1.6 and Ra3.2 for better holding of the packing ring and results in a better sealing performance.

f. Live Loaded Gland Flanges

n normal case, valve packing is tighten by gland and gland bolting. During the service, the gland load retention will be reduced by long time pressure from medium, which will cause possible leakage with loosened packing. VIZA designed low emissions valve use a set of Belleville springs installed on each gland stud to provide a continuous compressive force on gland, which guarantees permanent load retention for the stem packing to avoid fugitive emissions.

Opening Torque of Soft seated floating Ball Valve ( N.m ).

The operation torque data of soft seated floating ball valves in the following table are calculated based on normal temperature and clean medium. As selecting actuator, it is suggested that drive torque of actuator be more than 1.3 times the operation torque of ball valves at least in case of high temperature and low temperature working conditions or unclean medium, it is possible hat valve operation torque gets increased, which should be taken onto full consideration as selecting actuators. Operation torque for metal to metal sealed floating ball valve is about 4 time that of soft sealed floating ball valve.

For Reduces Port,Full Port series valves, Short and Long Body series valves, torque is the same. All valves are in normal temperature, with PTFE seat for Class 150~300 Lbs and Nylon seat for Class 600~1500 Lbs. For cryogenic ball valve, torque will be 2~2.5 times the above torque. . Torque shown in this table is to be used as a guide for actuator selection. A safety factor of 1.5 is recommended for actuator Torque may be changed according to different medium and trim material.

How to avoid problems

Ball valves shall be transported and stored with the ball in the fully open position. Flanged ends and welded ends shall be protected. End protection shall be removed only when the valve is installed in the line. Valves shall be handled using the proper lifting lugs. Valves shall be stored according to Lanus storage procedures. Long term storage shall be avoided. For Welded end valve, advise Lanus if there will be a postweld heat treatment (transition pups may be necessary to voids damages to to seals). Flush and clean the line before operating the valve. Make sure no-line testing flush is left in the line and/or the valve body. Avoild leaving the valve body filled with salt water to prevent internal corrosion. During line-testing, valves shall be left in the partially open position for the minimum possible of the time. Standard ball valves shall be use for on-off service only. Throttling service (use of the valve with the ball partially open) can damage the seats. Make sure to take into consideration the actual service conditions when selecting materials for O-rings and seat insert. Always specify ant-explosive docompression materials for valves to be used in high pressure gas service. Make sure the seleced actuator has been properly sized ( an oversized actuator can be as dangerous as an undersized one). Advise Lanus of cycle frequency to ensure proper sizing of actuator. Do not use the actuator to lift the valve.

WARRANTY CLAUSE
WARNING : Lanus Industries LLC USA will not accept claims for damages due to poor handling on site and/or for valves service conditions different from the one for which they have been manufactured and sold by Lanus Industries LLC USA. Valve standards from API - the American Petroleum Institute:

API SPEC 6D Specification for Pipeline Valves. API Specification 6D is an adoption of ISO 14313: 1999, Petroleum and Natural Gas IndustriesPipeline Transportation Systems-Pipeline Valves. This International Standard specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, manufacturing, testing and documentation of ball, check, gate and plug valves for application in pipeline systems. API 526 Flanged Steel Pressure Relief Valves. The standard is a purchase specification for flanged steel pressure relief valves. Basic requirements are given for direct spring-loaded pressure relief valves and pilot-operated pressure relief valves as follows: orifice designation and area; valve size and pressure rating, inlet and outlet; materials; pressure-temperature limits; and center-to-face dimensions, inlet and outlet. API 527 Seat Tightness of Pressure Relief Valves R(2002). Describes methods of determining the seat tightness of metal- and soft-seated pressure relief valves, including those of conventional, bellows, and pilot-operated designs. ANSI/API STD 594 Check Valves: Flanged, Lug, Wafer and Butt-welding. API Standard 594 covers design, material, face-to-face dimensions, pressure-temperature ratings, and examination, inspection, and test requirements for two types of check valves. API 598 Valve Inspection and Testing. The standard covers inspection, supplementary examination, and pressure test requirements for both resilient-seated and metal-to-metal seated gate, globe, plug, ball, check, and butterfly valves. Pertains to inspection by the purchaser and to any supplementary examinations the purchaser may require at the valve manufacturer's plant. ANSI/API 599 Metal Plug Valves - Flanged, Threaded and Welding Ends. A purchase specification that covers requirements for metal plug valves with flanged or butt-welding ends, and ductile iron plug valves with flanged ends, in sizes NPS 1 through NPS 24, which correspond to nominal pipe sizes in ASME B36.10M. Valve bodies conforming to ASME B16.34 may have flanged end and one butt-welding end. It also covers both lubricated and nonlubricated valves that have two-way coaxial ports, and includes requirements for valves fitted with internal body, plug, or port linings or applied hard facings on the body, body ports, plug, or plug port. ANSI/API 600 Bolted Bonnet Steel Gate Valves for Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries - Modified National Adoption of ISO 10434:1998. API 602 Compact Steel Gate Valves - Flanged, Threaded, Welding, and Extended-Body Ends. The standard covers threaded-end, socketwelding-end, butt-welding-end, and flanged-end compact carbon steel gate valves in sizes NPS4 and smaller. ANSI/API 603 Corrosion-Resistant, Bolted Bonnet Gate Valves - Flanged and Butt-Welding Ends. The standard covers corrosion-resistant bolted bonnet gate valves with flanged or butt-weld ends in sizes NPS 1/2 through 24, corresponding to nominal pipe sizes in ASME B36.10M, and Classes 150, 300, and, 600, as specified in ASME B16.34. ANSI/API 607 Fire Test for Soft-Seated Quarter Turn Valves. The standard covers the requirements for testing and evaluating the performance of straightway, soft-seated quarter-turn valves when the valves are exposed to certain fire conditions defined in this standard. The procedures described in this standard apply to all classes and sizes of such valves that are made of materials listed in ASME B16.34. API 609 Butterfly Valves: Double Flanged, Lug- and Wafer-Type. The standard covers design, materials, face-to-face dimensions, pressure-temperature ratings, and examination, inspection, and test requirements for gray iron, ductile iron, bronze, steel, nickelbase alloy, or special alloy butterfly valves that provide tight shutoff in the closed position and are suitable for flow regulation. API 6FA Specification for Fire Test for Valves. The standard covers the requirements for testing and evaluating the performance of API Spec 6A and Spec 6D valves when exposed to specifically defined fire conditions. API 6FC Fire Test for Valve with Automatic Backseats.
