Gay marriage has been an issue forever and people always side the same way that it isnt allowed. People use everything from mental disorders to the bible to justify their hatred for homosexuality. Where those people are wrong is that they only see one side of each argument such as the bible. In the bible there are multiple verses about love, gay marriage and other sins related to marriage. Just in the last fifty years has it been allowed in different countries around the world, and just in the last decade has it been legalized in the U.S. it could be another hundred years before it is legal everywhere in the world, or it could be never. In the last week Illinois became the fifteenth state to legalize gay marriage. Some people are strongly against this. The first gay rights organization in the country was founded in 1924 In Chicago. The name of the organization was The Society for Human Rights (Pearson Education). In 1973 Harvey Milk ran for city commissioner for San Francisco but he didnt win. He got 10th place out of thirty two with only 16000 votes. Then in 1978 he was elected to San Franciscos board of supervisors. Harvey Milk and San Franciscos mayor were gunned down by Dan White who was one of Harveys political opponents (Pearson education). The Bible may have verses saying that gay marriage is a sin and an abomination but it also has verses about love and the sins of heterosexual marriages. In first Corinthians it talks about what love is, it doesnt talk about it

being between a man or a woman a man and a man or a woman and a woman it just talks about love and what it truly means. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). Some churches have even allowed homosexual preachers. Some have even gone so far to show what other sins are included in heterosexual marriage. In Matthew it states that if a man and a woman get divorced and or remarried they have both committed adultery. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.(Matthew 19:9). There is nothing in the constitution that states that a gay marriage that says it is unconstitutional. The only reason it is still illegal is because some states have made it illegal. Hilary Clinton said Gay people are born and belong to every society in the world. They are all ages, all races, all faiths. They are doctors and teachers, farmers and bankers, soldiers and athletes. And whether we know it, or whether we acknowledge it, they are our family, our friends, and our neighbors. Being gay is not a western invention. It is a human reality. There are many reasons that same sex marriage is still illegal in most states. There are many benefits to marriage between a man and a woman. When a man and a woman unite in marriage that bond will lengthen the life spans of both partners, the love the two people share makes them happier and stronger each day. Other benefits include more civilized men in society.

Studies show that if a man is unmarried he is more likely to cause trouble and chaos in society. So if to men want to be together there is no woman in the relationship to keep the man under control (AllAboutLove). Same sex marriage is an abomination. It is specifically stated In the bible that marriage is sacred between a man and a woman. The bible talks about a few specific times that God punished gays for there sins. The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed himself with his face to the earth and said, My lords, please turn aside to your servant's house and spend the night and wash your feet. Then you may rise up early and go on your way. They said, No; we will spend the night in the town square. But he pressed them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house. And he made them a feast and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot, Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them. (Genesis 19:1-13). The next morning when Lot and his family left the city God destroyed the two cities with fire from the heavens. Children who are raised by homosexual couples are more likely to have mental and social problems when they are older. It teaches them that homosexuality is okay and they are more likely to be gay themselves. Homosexual couples are not fit to raise children together. In most controversial issues both side have good arguments for their cause but I feel like this is one of the few that doesnt. I see no problem with allowing same sex marriage. Why do

certain people have the right to tell to people that love each other that they are not allowed to get married or adopt children? I am a Christian and in the bible it does say that homosexuality is a sin. With that being said one of the biggest social question is if you are born gay or if it is a choice. Well I honestly dont have an answer for that question because in my faith everyone one has the chance to go to heaven. That is clearly stated in the bible multiple times. I also know a few gay men that are very devoted Christians and I can tell that it wasnt a choice for them to be gay they were born just attracted to men and there is nothing wrong with that. With that being said though if being gay is a sin and everyone has an equal chance at going to heaven it wouldnt be fair for homosexuality to be a sin. I simply do not understand how some people can stand up in front of everybody and say that God hates gays when that is so far from the truth. The religious people that have such a personal problem with gay marriage should not be allowed to vote on gay rights bills. It is truly embarrassing to see religious leaders bash gays so much. The gay rights movement has fought for rights in this country for a long time and it may just be a matter of time before gay marriage is legal in the entire country. Other than the religious reasons why people do not want gay marriage to be legal some people feel as if they would be terrible parents and not raise children right because of their sexuality and I think that is ridiculous. There is no reason why being raised by gay parents would make you different from being raised by straight parents. As long as your parents love you and take care of you who cares what gender they both are. The same sex marriage debate will probably go on for years to come, but it all comes down to being fair and not fair and Its not fair to keep to people who love each other from getting married.
