The text of the ahadeeth is not provided here. You can select any book of authentic
ahadeeth, such as Riyadus-Saliheen (the famous collection for the past several hundred
years, compiled by Imam Nuwawi).
These sessions are divided into 6 groups:

Group-1:
Group-2:
Group-3:
Group-4:
Group-5:
Group-6:

Daily Recitations 1A Al-Fatihah & Last Ten Surahs (Session 1-12)

Daily Recitations 1B Parts of Salah/Namaz (Sessions 13-21)
Daily Recitations 1C Miscellaneous supplications (Sessions 22-29)
Frequent Recitations (Sessions 30-42)
Some Extra Verses/Ahadeeth (Sessions 43-50)
Revision (Sessions 51-60).

For the first 5 groups (3 groups of Daily Recitations, and one each from Frequent
Recitations and Some Extra Verses) a vocabulary list (of 2 pages) is provided in the
beginning. The students are strongly encouraged to make copies of these 2 pages to a
single paper (back and forth), fold it and keep it in their pockets. They should refer to this
sheet at different times during the day for effective followup of the last class and and
preparation for the next class. Alternatively, a pocket book of the word lists of this course
can also be purchased separately. If you do this simple exercise, it will be a lot easier to
learn new words.
It will be appropriate to present here an important aspect of recall after learning.
According to studies, you must repeat something at least 5 times for it to sink into your
long term memory. More importantly, these repetitions should be spaced according to the
following rule:
1 Repetition: after 1 hour; 2 Repetition: after 1 day; 3 Repetition: after 1 week;
4 Repetition: after 1 month; 5 Repetition: after 1 semester (6 months)

SESSION 01

SURAH 1: AL-FATIHAH

I. SPOKEN ARABIC (2 minutes): Use the three-step-procedure (3SP). Read the Arabic text,
translate each Arabic word one-by-one, and then translate the whole sentence without repeating Arabic text.
Repeat this part for 2 minutes or until you know it thoroughly.

of Allah

and mercy on you all

Peace be

II. GRAMMAR (7 minutes):

Learn using Total Physical Interaction (TPI): See it; Think it; Say it;
Show it; and Read it with others. For showing what you mean, follow these guidelines:
1.

When you say

(He), point the index finger of the right hand towards your right as if that person is

sitting on your right. When you say

(They), point all the four fingers of your right hand towards your

right. In a class, both the teacher and the student should practice this together.
2.

When you say

(You), point the index finger of your right hand towards your front. When you say

(All of you), point all the four fingers of your right hand towards your students. In a class, the
teacher should point his fingers towards the students and the students should point their fingers
towards the teacher.
3.

When you say

(I), point the index finger of your right hand towards yourself. When you say

(we) point all the four fingers of your right hand towards yourself.
Detached/Personal Pronouns (Masculine) Please note that the following six pronouns have occurred 1160
times in the Quran (sr: Singular; pl: Plural; dl: Dual; mg: Masculine Gender; fg: Feminine Gender).

For the first 3 times, practice these 6 forms with translation, i.e., just show and say
you,

you all,

I,

he,

they,

we. Since you will be showing what you mean by your hand, you dont need

immediate benefit of using TPI, among many others. Continue the above steps without translating these
words. Just Five minutes of your practice using TPI will make the learning of these six words
(which occur 1160 times in the Quran) extremely easy!!! Also note that while practicing, dont
worry about learning the terminologies. Just focus on these six words and their meanings.
Please note that we have skipped the dual as well as the feminine gender forms. We will learn them later.
Both of these forms do not occur frequently in the Quran. Let us be expert in the above six forms first. We
will continue this practice for verb conjugation also. This approach makes the learning of these forms
extremely easy. When TPI is used as described above, it becomes interesting too.

III. THE MAIN LESSON (11 minutes):

Learn the meanings of new words and remember

the context for ease of memorization and recall. If you are studying in a group (with or without teacher), one
of the participants reads an ayah or part of it, translates it word-for-word and then reads the translation. After
him, the next one does the same for the second ayah, and so on. Keep practicing it for 11 minutes or until
each one knows the meanings thoroughly.

singular feminine forms because they occur frequently in the Quran.

Please note that we have used right hand for showing masculine gender forms. Therefore we will use left
hand for showing feminine gender forms.

(she), point the index finger of the left hand

towards your left as if that person is sitting on your left. When you say

(her Lord), point the same way to

your left. In a class, both the teacher and the student should practice this part together.
