The Blu on Police Department maintains an internal in es)%a) e proce!ure that allows ci).ens to le a %rie ance or complaint a%ainst any mem$er of the !epartment. The internal a3airs !i ision in es)%ates an! !ocuments all such complaints an! forwar!s the n!in%s to the Chief of Police for re iew an! !iscipli, nary !ecisions. This system is implemente! to uphol! the inte%rity of all employees. Director Tanner %ra!, uate! from *outh Carolina:s rst internal a3airs school for law enforcement in ;o em$er 2013. Cha$lain #rogram
The police !epartment:s Chaplain Pro%ram was create! in 2013. The purpose of this pro%ram was to help counsel o+cers an! their families( isit sic4 an! in"ure! o+cers( assist in !eath no)ca)ons( ser e as a liaison with other cler%y in the community an! ser e in func)on such as funerals( reli%ious ( an! ci il ceremonies. #ur Chaplains are on a con)nuous call,out sche!ule which pro i!es 2E hour ser ice. In 2013( the Chaplains respon!e! to nine !i3erent inci!ents. Their presence at these calls helpe! pro i!e %ui!ance an! spiritual stren%th to all people in ol e!. *ince its implementa)on( the Chaplain Pro%ram as ma!e a %reat impact on our o+cers an! our community.

<niform Patrol #+cers are the rst respon!ers to calls for ser ice an! complaints. They enforce local or!i, nances( tra+c an! *tate laws. 0s well as the law enforcement an! tra+c aspect of respon!in% to calls for ser ice. #+cers respon! to wi!e ariety of 7uality of life calls. <niform Patrol is the rst an! most isi$le form of local %o ernment many ci).ens see. They are there to o3er assistance to the ci).ens an! isitors of the Town of Blu on. <niform Patrol #+cers wor4 a rota)n% sche!ule an! pro i!e co era%e 2E hours a !ay( D !ays a wee4. In 2013 #+cers respon!e! to 32(BA2 calls for ser ice( this is an increase of 12M from 2012 an! a 12.EM increase from 2011. In a!!i)on to respon!in% to calls for ser ice( o+cers may perform !irecte! patrols to help alle iate crime or tra+c pro$lems in an area or to pro i!e assistance to the community. These !irecte! patrols may $e !one on foot( on $icycles or u)li.in% the T,3 mo$ility !e ice. Durin% the summer months( o+cers selecte! an! traine! for &arine Patrol will patrol the waterways aroun! Blu on.

The ol!est metho! of patrollin%( foot patrol is s)ll an e3ec) e way to patrol a nei%h$orhoo! or $usiness area. It o3ers the %reatest opportunity to interact with the pu$lic. It allows o+cers to ha e a lon%er presence in areas that may $e ha in% pro$lems.

The $oat is a 21 foot Carolina *4i3 that allows us to patrol shallow areas an! will han!le choppy seas. 2arlier this year( we "oine! a Noint Tas4 =orce with the Beaufort County *heri3:s #+ce an! the Department of ;atural 1esources to !eal with 2n iron, mental Crime. The 2n ironmental Tas4 =orce in es)%ates crimes an! pro$lems that may threaten our waterways( inclu!in% the &ay 1i er.
