Session Notes 1. I have installed the Chromes TweetDeck extension. 2. Before proceeding further, I understand what the claim is and understand there are implicit claims. These implicit claims come along with explicit claims made by the business or product. 3. Possibility exists, that each user can presume the implicit claims which might not be agreed by business or product or by another use of product. 4. On installing the TweetDeck I see the image of TweetDeck in the Apps screen of Chrome. That is chrome://apps. I can relate this to Claim #4 where the user can launch the app pretty quickly. But, do all users know there is a launcher icon here? This needs a study and test analysis as I cannot carry out it here at this time. Interestingly, the TweetDeck (TD) icons appear to have Twitter indication it.

Claims Testing for Google Chrome Tweet Deck extension 5. Clicking on the TD icon, I see the login screen. Wait, I see one more text here which looks to be one more claim. That is claim #5. It says, The most powerful Twitter tool for real-time tracking, organizing, and engagement a. It says i. Real Time Tracking, organizing, and engagement. .

6. From login section, I identify that, it asks for twitter username. But, in twitter.com, it allows me to enter the email-id registered with a twitter handler? Is it allowed here? Or it is allowed but not mentioned here? Let mel see it, wait. a. It allowed me to sign entering the email-id registered with twitter handle as well. i. Then why Im shown the watermark text to enter the twitter handle or username only? ii. Can I include both as watermark text? Or is there any specific reason for showing just one option (twitter username) which Im not aware at this time? We need to figure it out. Anyways, it can come into experience part when considered different user groups using TweetDeck. As per Claim #4, experience is also retained and considered to be of priority. ## FutureMission 7. Let me sign out and see can I sign with Twitter username. a. Im able to sign with username as well. b. Im ending to screen my tests on this coverage area as I consider our mission is to focus more on Claims 1,2 and 3 which c. is written above. 8. Claim #1 :: Swipe to discover whats happening Now you can swipe from your Home timeline to the Discover timeline to find trends, popular Tweets and new accounts tailored for you, and then swipe to

Claims Testing for Google Chrome Tweet Deck extension your Activity timeline to see Tweets and accounts that are popular among people you follow. Im observing the Android Twitter app I have on phone to see what is being said here. Hope, Im understanding and proceeding in right direction to accomplish mission. I read my mission statement just now. Im seeing this claim is for the mobile app. There exist screens -- Home, Discover and Activity. LIkewise in TweetDeck, can I see the same or similar screens so I can find the same information here as well? Let me explore on it. Discover -- At time of testing, I understand that, it will show trending tweet topics or hash tag; popular or trending or popularly followed tweeter accounts followed by people whom I follow. The claim said, Discover timeline to find trends, popular tweets and new accounts tailored for you. I see the actions or activities shown in this screen will be of people whom I follow. It can be whom they have started to follow, their retweet, their favorite marking. Do I get updates from the people whom I follow but they do not follow me? Yes that is what Im seeing. Now, do I get updates from people who follow me but I dont follow? In the scroll down I did, no such tweets were found. In one view this looks to be good but not in other perspectives Im seeing. This will not be analyzed in this session. It can be a future session. ##FutureMission. In last hour, if I do not consider any tweet as popular from people whom I follow and I thought so, it shows trending popular tweets associating with related tweet topics me and whom I follow tweet. This is moving away from my expectations. This can be work on user experience and not considering in this session ##FutureMission. Im not able to identify similar to Discover in the TweetDeck. I see an option to add Trending from Add Columns. But there is no option to see trending topics tags as I see in Discover screen of mobile app and Discover page of Twitter web. Im not finding enough information to see what Im seeing. To solve this, Im signing in to my web based twitter account to cross verify. Here, Im using consistency, matching and availability heuristics. I see a twitter accoung @BGR in Discover tab of mobile app. I remember, Im not following this account. Let me confirm it from web based Twitter 5

Claims Testing for Google Chrome Tweet Deck extension version as I feel it easy to do this here than in TweetDeck, at this time. Im not following this account; but the people who I follow are following this account. This clues me now, Discover tab shows new account as well. Let me read, what the Discover tab includes. It says Discover timeline to find trends, popular Tweets and new accounts tailored for you. May be it is giving me new accounts which is more likely interested to me by collecting the details of my tweets, people whom I follow and whom they follow and considering our common interests. I did not find this option in TweetDeck, where I can do it quickly as I do in Mobile app and Twitter web. In the web based Twitter version there are sections which tells Who to follow and Trends. May be this combined and included in Discover screen of mobile app. This is appearing to miss in TweetDeck. As well, I did not see an easy and obvious option to change the Trending topic in TweetDeck as I see in web version. This might not engage me as the web version does in terms of Discover feature experience. Or if it exist, it is not obvious to me so far with the tests Im carrying out for this claim. This makes to think on identified claim #4 and claim #5. ##FutureMission. I can switch to Activity timeline and watch the activities of people whom Im following. At this time, I see the same in TweetDeck as well. This helps me to catch and follow up what my followers are doing. I have not observed this feature in web version of Twitter and not sure if it exist as well. So, this is another difference Im seeing in experience of Twitter and its claims of engaging and real time tracking. Why I cant see the same in web version or it is very obvious as in mobile app and TweetDeck? This observation does not claim #4 and claim #5 extensively. With minimal tests carried out so far, aspects of claim #1 are appearing to meet in mobile app in terms of features functionality presence but not in TweetDeck. But the URL I have mentioned above claims for the experience in mobile app and not in TweetDeck, which should be noted here. Considering the experience claim among the different Twitter products, it looks experience of one feature is not experienced as same in other version of Twitter product.

Claims Testing for Google Chrome Tweet Deck extension Note that, presence of feature functionality does not mean PLEASING EXPERIENCE experienced. Meeting the requirement document specification does not mean, the product is experiencing. ## FutureMission Im stopping to work on Claim #1 now & moving to Claim #2.

9. Claim #2: Now you can send and receive photos via direct messages and swipe back and forth between timelines. I have configured two accounts in my TweetDeck now. Im using my mobile phone to send the images as DM along with description. I could navigate to and back from the DM screen to Discover and Activity screens in Android mobile app. Im was able to see the image sent as DM in TweetDeck Wait, is there any limit on image size to send as DM? Looks like max allowed image size is 3 MB and I can see that as message in TweetDeck. Let me watch it on mobile app. Mobile app did not show any message on image file constraint. I used image of 6 MB and it uploaded with no intimation in Android mobile app. The same behavior was observed in Twitter web; the message of image file constraint is shown. Analyzed the images showed on TweetDeck. The image histogram details as analyzed by tools, says it is processed or edited. Cross compared with original image i.e. the one which is picked for uploading; the histogram on analysis says it is unprocessed or not edited. That means, user is not intimated about image compress or quality reduction on uploading it from mobile app. I have not tested the same from TweetDeck and Twitter Web. ## FutureMission I tried uploading the video from Android mobile app and TweetDeck. It was not possible to upload the video at this time. The message is shown at right hand bottom of screen saying file is not supported. Web version of Twitter said, image file is not selected. Selected a text, exe and .pdf file, it was not accepted during the time of testing. The mail notification received about DM did not show the image files. It displayed the URL of the image. I had to sign in to see the image. In mobile, I used the same file which I used to upload on desktop. It did not tell me about the size constraint. It sent the DM. Opening the image sent on the DM I see the size of the image was around 150 KB. The actual size of image file is 3 MB. 7

Image quality appeared to have changes when it is sent from mobile phone. If I believe it sends the image with same quality, I will go wrong. User is will have no intimation about this when sending an image from mobile phone. There can be possibility the image quality will be reduced when sending from TweetDeck and Twitter Web as well. It is good to have this information shared visibly to user. How to show this information in place other than Terms & Conditions or Policy, should be worked out. ## FutureMission I can delete the DM as well from mobile and it will be reflected in TweetDeck and vice versa For Claim #4 and Claim #5, I have to consider there is no consistency across Twitter of desktop version, web version and mobile app. Does the image quality reduction information missing and inconsistency in products, affect claim of engaging and experiencing? ##FutureMission I have to sign in to see the full screen size image which is received in TweetDeck. More clicks, user think time and wait time adds up here. Will this be engaging to user in her/his experience? ##FutureMission The message text box provided by Twitter helps in seeing character count as typed by me. Also I can use Android native message or text box; in this case, I will not know character count. Submitting the message now, shows no response by the app. Just I have to keep tapping on Send button to see nothing happening and no message. This observation will question the claims made in claim #4 and claim #5. ##FutureMission The Claim #2, appears to function with the tests carried out.

10. Claim #3 :: Direct messages: Now with photos For the first time, you can share and view photos via direct message (DM) on your mobile phone. Weve also introduced a new tab in the navigation bar that makes it easy to access DMs theyre just one tap away from wherever you are on Twitter. You can also view photos in DMs on twitter.com. With the tests conducted I shared the images. I see a navigation bar in Android version of mobile app. On this bar, I see an indication message of DM received. It also shows the number that gives me an indication unread message count. For me at this time, it looks to be consistent with message indication of Twitter web version -- where it says, I have a DM.

Claims Testing for Google Chrome Tweet Deck extension

I can see the same messages in TweetDeck as well. The mail received in Inbox will have indication of direct message. The direct message having the image will show the URL but not the image. I had to sign in to Twitter web version to see the DM. TweetDeck was opened and I had signed with my Twitter account but still I had to sign into Twitter web. This experience can question the identified claim #4 and claim #5. ## FutureMission

Observations 1. With the limited tests carried out for Claim #1, the feature functionalities exists in Android Mobile app. Whereas, in TweetDeck I did not see the Trending part or suggestion part. This looks to suit identified claim #1 made for mobile app, but it does not stand with other identified claims #4 and #5, which promotes the real time tracking, engagning and organizing on different modes of Twitter. 2. The inconsistency in considering the image size while sending it as DM over mobile app. Looks like it reduces the image quality but I have not made any qualitative test for this. Mobile app accepted 3 MB file and sent the DM. Receiver got 150 KB image file size. The web version and TweeDeck says about the file size constraint. And to see the full screen image received on TweetDeck, I have to sign in web version of Twitter. This actions can irritate the users. This questions the engaging claim of Twitter. 3. It is good to explicitly mention the compression or quality reduction of image files uploaded. Future Mission 6 (ii) Test for observations noted in above observations with hash tag ## FutureMission. Session Conclusion Notes 1. Identified the claims what I can in present context from the URL mentioned in Mission statement. 2. Carried out initial round of tests and made note of observations which stands with claims of Twitter branding i.e. Claim #4 and Claim #5. 3. I have exercised basic tests on Claim #1, Claim #2 and Claim #3. 4. I have tried to cover the basic functionalities of these features in the time I had. 5. This looks to be good enough for mission I have framed. Further analysis can be made in depth for each claim for specific coverage information. A new future charter is identified. It can be picked when working for those particular claims. 6. With these observations and analysis, I see, the mission is accomplished.
