Set Induction: a. Show the picture of Ben and Bip. (Appendix 1) b. Pupils talk about the picture. (Prompt pupils by asking questions) c. Repeat for pictures 2 to 7. (Appendix 1) Step 1: a. Introduce the phoneme /b/ by showing the action. Put your hands up to demonstrate the balloon bursting. c. Demonstrate how to sound it out: When you make the sound /b/, your lips go together and then d. Pupils do the action and say /b/, /b/, /b/. e. Pupils say /b/ is for b. Step 2: a. Pre-teach vocabulary. (Appendix 3) Show the picture of Ben and say [Ben]. Say aloud /b/, /b/, Ben. Pupils repeat. b.
