Dear Colleague,
The primary objective of this popular course is to provide the participant with a multidisciplinary understanding of the design, materials, construction, integrity, operation and maintenance of this important onshore and offshore infrastructure. The oil and gas industry is considered to be one of the most important industries on the planet. The raw materials, products and resources provided by this industry have many functions, including fuelling our transportation systems and heating our homes. Activities within the oil and gas industry can be divided into three large areas: exploration, production and commercialisation. All three sectors involve the ever-more demanding transportation of oil, gas and other related products. Pipelines are generally the most economical way to transport large quantities of oil and gas over land and subsea. Oil and gas have to be transported from offshore or onshore facilities and pipelines offer the most convenient solution. In comparison with rail or road transportation, pipelines are more cost efficient, providing a lower cost per unit as well as a higher capacity. Delivered entirely online by distance learning, the programme offers the flexibility to learn in your own time and environment, so you will become part of the broad range of people who will benefit from studying this course. Written by industry specialists in their fields, the six modules address the important issues and self-assessment questions help to draw out key points so you can check your understanding of the topic, before taking the online tests to consolidate your learning. I look forward to welcoming you onto the course.
