The Summer Engineering Exploration (SEE) Camp is a one week, residential camp for high school students interested in engineering. Hosted by the Society of Women Engineers at the University of Michigan, SEE camp provides opportunities for the campers to discover the possibilities of engineering.

Explore different engineering disciplines through interactive presentations, activities and tours. Enhance teamwork skills by designing and building projects using real engineering applications. Meet undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, and professional engineers as they share their personal and professional experiences. Tour factories and other engineering workplaces. Experience the diversity of life in Ann Arbor. Have fun!

Cost, Transportation, Housing, and Meals


The cost of the camp is $650, which includes all costs of activities, room, board, and transportation while at camp. Campers will be sharing a room with another SEE participant in a University of Michigan residence hall. Transportation to and from Ann Arbor is the responsibility of the participant. Need based scholarships are available upon acceptance to the program.

Eligibility
All students currently enrolled in their freshman, sophomore, or junior year of high school are eligible to apply. Student applicants should demonstrate an interest/aptitude for math and science, as well as an interest in the field of engineering. Approximately 40 students will be selected based on their application.

Application Procedure and Deadline


The application includes:

1. An application worksheet 2. One letter of recommendation from a math or science teacher.


The link to the application will be located at the top of this webpage when the application opens for 2014. The complete application must be submitted electronically by 11:59 PM on Friday, March 1, 2014. Acceptance letters will be sent via email in mid-April. The program fee is payable upon acceptance to the program if you choose to attend. Financial aid forms will be made available to students who are accepted and choose to attend the program.

Absolutely. All students currently enrolled in their freshman, sophomore, or

junior year of high school are eligible to apply. SWE's mission is to promote universal success in engineering, independent of gender.

How do I submit a recommendation letter electronically?


The author of your recommendation letter (a math or science teacher) must submit the letters electronically in PDF format. A link to the electronic form for submitting the letters is located at the top of this webpage.

Is this program only open to Michigan residents?


No. In-state, out-of-state, and international students have attended in past years and are welcome to apply for SEE Camp 2013.
