Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. We ask that there be no food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.

Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, is March 5. We will have our traditional Ash Wednesday Service with imposition of ashes at 6:30 PM in the sanctuary. Ash Wednesday is the start of the Lenten journey of 40 weekdays (Monday through Saturday) that takes the church to the eve of Easter (Easter is April 20 this year). Sundays are not included in the count of 40 days, as Sundays in the Christian Year are always considered "little Easter" celebrations. Rotation Sunday School - Starting Sunday, March 2, we will begin a new way of doing our Children's Sunday School program. All the children will be split into three groups and rotate through three 20 minute classes. Ben will have one group teaching them music education and Bible verses that go along with the songs they will be learning. This group will meet in the sanctuary. Robbie will be teaching another group on crafts, games, cooking and other great adventures the kids will get excited about. They will be in the kitchen, fellowship hall or outside when it gets warmer. The last group will be Brad's group where the children will learn a Bible study that teaches them knowledge of God's word on their level. They will meet up in the youth room. The three groups will begin at 8:50 am and will rotate till they finish at 9:50 am. The themes of Sunday School will tie into what the kids are learning in Children's Church. We will do themes on The 10 Commandments, The Sermon on the Mount, and other great messages from God's Word. We are excited abut getting started and look forward to this being a great new ministry to bring more children into our church. Please be in prayer for the success of this great new ministry we are adding to New Hope. Compassionate Hands. This program that benefits the homeless community of Lebanon continues to do good work here at New Hope. Only a couple of weeks to go this ministry concludes the end of February. Mens and Womens Ministries Grow Your Faith

New Hope is seeking to form a Womens Small Group based on the Cumberland Presbyterian Womens Ministry (CPWM). Elder Mary Thompson has been organizing this. Our purpose will be to accept and share the love and joy of Jesus Christ through the ministry of women in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. We seek to do this as we pray, study God's Word, and reach out to others through mission, service, encouragement and fellowship. This goal will be accomplished through a diversity of ministries. CPWM is an opportunity for the women in our congregation to fellowship, share devotional time, minister to the community and grow in grace as Christians. All women in the church are members and are a part of the larger Womens Ministry in the denomination. Ladies, please let us know if you would be interested in this ministry and what time would be better for you by completing the tear-off portion of todays bulletin. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17 New Hope is seeking men interested in forming a vibrant Mens Ministry within the church. The Men's Ministry will be a time for men to come together for fellowship, support and building relationships as we go through our Christian journey. We will discuss ways to help with needs inside and outside our church, whether through handyman type projects or whatever needs may arise. We will become the focal planning team for events that the men organize such as the Mothers Day Brunch and Valentines banquet. Church buildings and grounds maintenance (mowing) will also be a focus. Most importantly, through this ministry, we can build on having a better relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Men, if you are interested in strengthening your walk with Christ, please let us know your level of interest in this ministry by completing the tear-off portion of todays bulletin.

The Gospel Lesson

When Jesus announced his plan to invite everyone into the Kingdom of Peace, Love, and Life Everlasting he chose people one or two at a time to follow him on a mission that will share the salvation message with everyone. He started with a discipleship training course. Todays Scripture, Matthew 5:38-48, is an essential part of that training. These words are a challenge: do not resist and evil personif someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other alsoif someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two mileslove your enemiesbe perfect. Wow! Weve got our work cut out for us. To accept Christ as Savior seems simple and easy to do, but to become a true Christ follower is not easy. Do you want to take the challenge to be like Jesus? Lets think about it this Sunday. Dare we take the challenge of kingdom living? Matthew 5:38-48 New International Version (NIV) Eye for Eye 38 You have heard that it was said, Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.[a] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Love for Enemies 43 You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor[b] and hate your enemy. 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Thought for the Week

magine a bank that credited your account each morning with $86,000 that carried over no balance from day to day...Allowed you to keep no cash in your account, and every evening cancelled whatever part of the amount you failed to use during the day, what would you do? Draw out every cent every day, of course, and use it to your advantage! Well, you have such a bank, and its name is TIME! Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it counts as lost whatever of this you failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balances, it allows no overdrafts. Each day it opens a new account with you. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours; there is no going back. There is no drawing against tomorrow!
