Interviews: Raab, Esther. "1992." Interview. United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Feb. 2014. <http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/media_oi.php?ModuleId=10005213&MediaId=1126>. This was not a personal interview. I found this video on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website. It was of a survivor named Esther Raab. I used this quote to represent an opinion of the underground resistance from the Jewish Germans. This was her interpretation of what was going on, and it shows how horrible the gas chambers were if she preferred getting killed than going to the gas chambers.

Pamphlets: Drexler, Anton. National Socialist German Workers Party: A Political Awakening. Munich: n.p., 1920. Print. I did not have access to the entire translated pamphlet since excerpts of this was reprinted in another book. This pamphlet was written by Hitlers colleague in the group, Anton Drexler. He aimed towards his other colleagues, saying that he is one of them too and they all want the same things. He states that he is concerned that all of them are not progressing to reach their goals if they are in service of foreign power. He, too, agrees that Jews are deceiving and are everyone should realize the false friendship from the Jewish. He concludes that everyone must realize this in order to achieve worker freedom. Letters: Hitler, Adolf. "Germlich Letter." Letter to Herr Gemlich. 16 Sept. 1919. MS. N.p. This letter, written in 1919 from Adolf Hitler, was sent to Herr Gemlich explaining the German governments flaws. He expressed his thoughts about Jewish conspiracy in this letter as well as in the Mein Kampf. Hitler described how German Jews would not be considered German, since they do not adopt the German traditions. He believes that it is truly selfish and inconsiderate of them to live in Germany as Hitlers interpretation of an Alien race. He does not believe a non-German should live in Germany. He also writes about his thoughts of Jewish peoples deceit. Hitler believes that Jews look innocent but would do anything to get more wealth and money. This picture shows a couple, being persecuted by Nazis due to it being illegal (at the time) for a German and a Jew to date. The Nuremberg Laws, made this illegal, along with many other things Jews were originally able to do. The Nuremberg Laws took away German citizenship from all Jews, restricted a Jew from having intimate relationships a German, along with many other things. This shows what the Nazis told others of what marriage is legal, and what kind of marriage is illegal. The webpage provides a quote, which is what Hitler was saying in this picture. He talks about equality, and about how people are equal no matter the amount of wealth they possess. The website title says that Hitler states that only the German race shall be equal. Jewish children in a Concentration Camp. Digital image. MartinFrost, n.d. Web. <http://www.martinfrost.ws/htmlfiles/camp_children1.jpg>. This picture shows several Jewish children locked up in a German concentration camp. Jewish women, men, children, the elderly, anyone who contained Jewish blood was sent to a concentration camp. Often, children were immediately put in the gas chamber. The picture does not indicate whether they were lucky or whether they were waiting in line for the gas chamber. Of course it could be neither, but no one will truly ever know. This picture, I can envision, makes people feel sympathy or empathy, as I felt. This picture is used on our website, on the What Did We Learn page.

There are not only men in this photo but women too. They are surrounded by many more soldiers than their number which leads to the idea, that they are pretty strong. There were people who stood up and tried to fight back, but because of the severe lack in number, they really couldn't make that much of a difference and often were killed very soon.

If a German was brought to the court and was opposed to the Nazi Regime, they could have been executed. In fact, about twelve - thousand Germans were unfairly killed for this reason. In other matters, this picture was used for our website, specifically the, Special Courts page. This picture, just from the look of the photo, seems extremely for the Nazi Regime. The quote was "The Nuremberg Laws define a "Jew" as someone with three or four Jewish grandparents. Consequently, the Nazis classify as Jews thousands of people who had converted from Judaism to another religion, among them even Roman Catholic priests and nuns and Protestant ministers whose grandparents were Jewish." The assassination was put into place by High German Officials, because they believed that Hitler was leading their country into possible destruction. The only way to stop this was to get rid of him, they thought. Yet, the plan did not succeed, to Hitlers advantage. Although Hitler did not die, four others in the room did. This picture gives a great idea of how not only Jews, but many others believed Hitler was going too far with his plans. This picture is used in our website on the Attempted Assassination page. This picture was of people going underground as a form of resistance. This is one example of unarmed resistance, which was one of the most effective. This picture includes two young Jewish boys of whom are wearing the Star of David, to symbolize that they are Jewish. At the start of World War II, all Jews were forced to do this so it would be easier to identify who was Jewish, and who was not at the concentration camps. The youngest of kids, to the eldest of adults had to wear the star. Videos: Anti-Nazi Parade in New York City. United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. USHMM, n.d. Web. 25 Jan. 2014. This source is the original film of an Anti-Nazi Parade. It shows a lot of support for the Jewish coming from America. Though protest coming from the United States was delayed, this parade held in New York City in 1939 showed a lot of protest. Hundreds of American citizens participate in this ceremony. Hitler Bomb Plot 1944. War Archives, 1944. YouTube. 18 Feb. 2013. Web. 25 Jan. 2014. This is also an original film of people who support Hitler. It acts as if Hitler is even more superior since he had survived the bomb plot. It shows all the damage done by the bomb, and how Hitler had nearly been assassinated. Hitler's First Speech as Chancellor at Berlin Sportspalast on Feb. 10, 1933. Julius Streicher, Youtube, 2013. This film is a primary source, for it shows the original video of Hitlers first speech as chancellor. I used this film and edited it to cut out parts that made it too long. I used this in our website to show his first speech.

This photograph provided a good quote for our website. It shows Hitler saluting while the quote is also present, saying that Hitler is doing good by killing off Jewish. It lets us learn about how many were persuaded by Hitler as he stated how all his actions are necessary. I think this was a good picture for our page Support since it gives the German people somebody to worship.

Interviews: Cushman, Sarah M. E-mail interview. 9 Dec. 2013. This interview explained how the Mein Kampf did not lead to the rise of the Nazis, but more likely economic problems. Although it is not known just how popular it was, the book was often given as a gift on special occasions. It did however, include the Nazis ideology. Polonsky, Anthony. E-mail interview. 9 Dec. 2013. This interview confirmed the idea that Mein Kampf did not lead to the rise of the Nazis. Also, it gave the chancellor election statistics.

Books: Feuchtwanger, E. J. 1999. From Weimar to Hitler: Germany, 1918-33. New York: St. Martin's, 1993. N. pag. Print. This source was found reprinted in a different book. Even though it only includes a small passage from the book, it gives information of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919. E.J. Feuchtwanger tells that the Germans were very angry and upset towards the Treaty of Versailles. The one passage explains what allies of World War I forced among the Germans, such as payment and their borderlines. It also provided a decent quote that Ive used in our website. Fischer, Klaus P. Herzstein, Robert Edwin. The Nazis. Alexandria, VA: Time-Life, 1980. Print.

This book was very long and full of detail. Herzstein wrote much about the Nazis in general, so it did not relate entirely on the topic of my project. This book still provided a lot of information for me, about as much as a typical website would. Herzstein wrote this book in a very formal way, citing many quotations from Hitlers very own book, the Mein Kampf. The Nazis did not focus on one section at a time, as many people were involved. This is particularly important for our project since it introduces many different subjects, events, and people. These topics included Hermann Goring, the Beer Hall Putsch, and Hjalmar Horace Greely. I did not obtain information about these topics though it allowed me to understand more things involved with our subject. Hills, Ken, and John Berry. World War II. New York: M. Cavendish, 1988. Print. This book was a secondary source. It was not particularly helpful in our field of research but gave a few dates and meanings. It tells when Hitler and the Nazi Party came into power when they officially started harassing the jews through persecution. It also explain what blitzkrieg is and who invented it. Hitler, Adolf, and Ralph Manheim. Mein Kampf,. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1943. Print. This book was written directly by Hitler himself, though it was translated into English. This really helps us understand his intentions as well as how he saw both Jews and the Aryan race. It lets us know what the Germans had read back in 1925 and how this persuaded the people to believe that Hitler is sane. An autobiography really shows the reader Hitlers o wn view of the history. The book mostly showed his hatred towards Jews as well as how he thought about the events, but the Mein Kampf provided multiple quotes as well.

Kubizek, August. The Young Hitler I Knew. Trans. Geoffrey Brooks. London: Greenhill, 2006. Print. This book was another biography about Hitler. One quote that stood out was What I liked I learnt. There is also a quote from Mein Kampf that tells of how even Adolf Hitler could not tell if a fellow was a Jew or not: They did not look like this in Linz. The author goes on to explain how Hitler expressed his enthusiasm by talking about the Jewish problem constantly, even though the author, himself, had no interest in the particular subject. Lukacs, John. The Legacy of the Second World War. New Haven: Yale UP, 2010. Print. This book tells a little about the influence of the book Mein Kampf. It describe the persuasiveness and explains that people thought the book Mein Kampf so influential that it was banned. Along with that, it also contains Adolf Hitlers political ideas. McClafferty, Carla Killough. In Defiance of Hitler: The Secret Mission of Varian Fry. New

York: Farrar Straus Giroux, 2008. Print. In Defiance of Hitler: The Secret Mission of Varian Fry is a book about a young man who went inside Germany to save millions. His work is incredible but most of the information in this book is quite off topic. Information that does help us a bit is the naming of two concentration camps, a few dates, and the explanation of how the Nazi symbol came to be. The book also tells what S.S. stands for. Mitchell, Otis C. 1999. Hitler over Germany: The Establishment of the Nazi Dictatorship (1918-1934). Philadelphia: Institute for the Study of Human Issues, 1983. N. pag. Print. Otis C. Mitchell, the author of the book, described Hitler's first serious attempt at power that occurred in 1923, the Beer Hall Putsch. He explains through the short passage of Hitler's idea of the Weimar democracy. Hitler had believed that the three powerful men in Bavaria could help him stage a putsch to change the Berlin government and ended up interrupting the Munich beer hall meeting It also provided a decent quote that Ive used in our website.

Nardo, Don. The Rise of Nazi Germany. San Diego, CA: Greenhaven, 1999. Print. This source has incredible information since there were many authors who contributed greatly in writing this book. Also, the book included many excerpts from various sources that also contained a lot of information. It gave a lot of information on the Rise of the Nazis. It stated much of how Nazis turned Germany into a police state, controlling all of Germany. It told a little bit of Hitlers beliefs and ideas, too. This book really allowed me to understand the power of the Mein Kampf affecting his own public affection and popularity. As expected, Hitler persecuted the Jews and was appointed Chancellor of Germany. This source also mentions much of Hitlers ideas forming in Vienna. The Social Democratic Party was one of the largest resistance groups. When it was made illegal in 1933, parts of it went underground and became known as Roter Strosstrupp or relocated to Prague and became known as Sopade. Roter Strosstrupp had 3,000 members and a newspaper that was distributed every two weeks. Factory workers would refuse to salute Hitler, turn up for work, or purposely sabotage factory equipment. In 1939, a factory worker name Georg Elser planted a bomb in the Munich hall in attempt to assassinate Hitler. All would have worked out well, except the bomb went off a few minutes after Hitler finished his speech. He was also the original writer of this orated book. However, because of his poor skills in writing, Rudolf Hess soon replaces him. This website was very advantageous because it contains all the passages from Hitlers book, Mein Kampf. If this were in actual book form, I believe it would be a primary source, but since it is included in a website, it is doubtful that it is included as a primary source. The website was especially great because it gives you a direct view at what Hitler thought about the world, about people, about everything. The information gained from this website is included in the website, in various places.

Hitler had joined the National Socialist Party, to the start of the Nuremberg Laws in 1935. Both these dates have not been mentioned before, since I did no research on Hitlers arrival to the Nazi Party. I also learned that the National Socialist Party is called the Nazi Party. Nuremberg Laws were also unheard of for me before this website. They were laws placed that would not let a Jew and a non-Jew get married. This website didnt mention the Mein Kampf but it described events that had occurred before and after the event. For example, the reason he killed so many Jews is because he thought they would prevent him from putting his plans into action. Hitler would corrupt the German youths minds with how they were the best (the Germans) and how they should be ruling the world. The children went through lots of difficult training, because Hitler believed this was an extremely important part in carrying out his plans. He briefly explains that the failure of the Beer Hall Putsch event was the cause of Hitlers imprisonment. Of course, this is significant because Hitler only wrote the book when he was in prison. In the book, he explained his hatred of Jews and his plans for Germanys future, while this website provides a few extracts from the Mein Kampf itself. It is not extremely detailed but it tells more than enough information on what we need for this specific section. Though I didnt include a lot of information about this movement on our website, I added a quote about it from this website to support the idea of resistance coming from people. This website suggests that Adolf Hitler was influenced when he was a child to be anti semitic, due to the fact that he lived in an area where that was extremely common. He was influenced to believe that most of the horrible things that happened in the world, was at the fault of the Jews. So, his solution was to banish them from society. This website was incredibly helpful, and gives a great background on why he might have hated the Jews as much as he did.

It also included a lot of important dates and people. It was incredibly helpful. I learned that Mein Kampf was written mainly around the idea of preserving the Aryan blood. Also, many different courts like the Peoples Court and Special Court were created so Hitler and the likes could have their way a nd eliminate enemies.

This film was created to inform others of the Jewish resistance that actually took place during the Holocaust. It informed the viewers about the various ways of Jews opposing Hitler. It even questions whether Hitler contained Jewish blood, or not. The opposite, it states, has not been proven. Therefore, it is possible that Hitler has descended from a Jewish family member. It has been thought that one of Hitlers

grandfathers was in fact, Jewish. This video did a fantastic job at explaining why he was an antisemite, to why he let his hatred go that far. Nazi Germany - The Nuremberg Laws - Hitler and the Jews N03d. TimelinesTV, 2013. Youtube. This video provided much information about Hitlers establishment of the Nuremberg Laws. It described much of Hitlers power in restricting rights against Jews. Many people were influenced by him, also taking part in the anti-Septimism. I learned that not only were Jews verbally ostracised from public areas, but signs were put up to support the discrimination. We used this in our website in the The Nuremberg Laws section. In this film, a Kristallnacht laborer Robert (Bob) Behr is interviewed about his experience of the Kristallnacht. He described the scene as terrifying, as many shops were destroyed and the merchandise was demolished. I thought this would be perfect for our website since it shows the point of view from one who actually experienced it. I edited this video so that it would fit within the time limit of our website. This website was very beneficial for my understanding as to what happened during the Holocaust, and the beginning. I learned that the main goals of Hitler were territory expansion, pure state of only Aryans, and getting rid of all the European Jews. Also, I realized that Chancellor and President were two different offices. In January 1933, Berlin, right before the Nazis could lose all favor, Hitler was actually offered the position of Chancellor. The Nazis were surprised by this generous offer and took the chance. The Conservative politicians, didnt like nor trust Hitler, but thinking, they could control him, let him stay in office. In 1938, Austria was made a part of Germany. That same year, Kristallnacht, named by the Germans, or Night of Broken Glass, occurred. The SS, SA, and Hitler Youth destroyed or vandalized over 7,000 stores and 250 synagogues. I also learned that for a while, the SS would let Jews leave the concentration camps if they agreed to emigrate. This however, was not completely nice, they probably knew that most of them couldnt do so because of the ever changing laws on immigration and passports.
