5. DDD H. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding?

submitted by: Neo Sequeira

Write a Letter (TE 10): Have students write a letter to someone new to our region. Ask them to describe the physical and human features of their region including: where it is located, what the climate is like, what people do for work, and what plants and animals live there. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. XXX I. Closure: Quick discussion of the three statements in the Review and Assess section of TE 11.

J. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I believe the easiest part of the lesson for me to teach is step one in the procedures. All I have to do is ask students to describe the area around them where they live and introduce the chapters vocabulary. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? The most challenging will be the actual reading because students will ask questions that I must know a detailed and clear answer to. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? An extension to this lesson could be to have students make a model of the earth using clay. They would have to use different colors to show the earths features and to divide the model into four hemispheres. 4. What can you do for students who dont grasp the concepts?

5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? Nothing needs to be changed, but added. I would need to add a way for students to take notes on the information they are reading and we are discussing. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part was the state standards. I dont know what would fit for this lesson.
