Sister Tatiana, a Dominican Sister travels from Siberia to Christ the King Parish to share her Vocation Story and Sisters Call to Serve the Poor in Siberia. The Sisters' mission is among the poor and children from dysfunctional families. Sisters organize and lead a Day Care for the children, education program, summer retreats and provide food and clothing for them. Sisters do not earn any salary but live on from people's donations. Easter Triduum Choir Rehearsals

Choir rehearsals for the Easter Triduum begin Wednesday, March 12, at 7:00pm. We will rehearse each Wednesday leading up to Easter from 7:00pm until 9:00pm in church. The choir will sing at the Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil liturgies. All are welcome, more men are needed! BREAK OPEN THE WORD MEETS THURSDAY MORNINGS

Do you want to understand the readings better before attending Mass? Have you ever had questions about the readings? Well, Break Open the Word is for you! We meet Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. in the East Room. At these informative meetings, with six to eight attendees, we discuss the readings and everyone has a chance to ask questions and voice their opinion. Lenten Reflection 2014

You are invited to a Lenten Reflection Program at Sacred Heart Monastery on either Saturday, March 8, or Tuesday, March 11 from 9-11am. Sister Mary Bratrsovsky, OSB, will be the presenter. We will reflect on the passage from Philippians "Christ humbled himself, becoming obedient even to death on the cross". Specifically, we will reflect on the topic of humility according to the Rule of Benedict. This presentation will be followed by the Eucharistic Liturgy at 11:30 am. Jeremiah Day April 5, 2014 at Mundelein Seminary

This is for young men in grades 7-10. It is an opportunity to see this beautiful seminary and experience what life is like there through the eyes of our current seminarians. There is a modest $5 fee to help with the cost of food. Donuts and bagels will be provided for breakfast and lunch is provided at the seminary cafeteria. CHRIST THE KING SIMBANG GABI DONATIONS

The Christ The King Church Simbang Gabi Groups first collection during the December 17, 2013 Simbang Gabi Mass amounted to $415.00 The group, however, donated $1000.00 which included the $415.00 to Christ The King church for upkeep of the church. The second collection aggregated to $705.00, and the group added $195.00 to make even $900.00 given to Hope for the World, Philippines Children Center, Inc. a program that benefits very poor children and families of Payatas, Quezon City, endorsed by Most Rev. Jose Corazon Talaoc, represented by Atty. Clarence V. Guinto, president. We thank our pastor Fr. Peter Jarosz and all the members of CTK staff for allowing our cherished Filipino tradition to be celebrated. We likewise thank all who assisted us in the set up and cleaning of the CTK school gym. We also thank Fr. Peter and Javier Aguilera for their mission trip to the Philippines from January 31 to February 15, 2014 who served our brothers and sisters affected by the typhoon and work with the medical team from Diocese of Joliet. Movie Screening - Social Doctrine Education - Human Trafficking Event

Watch a movie depicting the life of Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador. Pope Benedict XVI said Archbishop Romero was "an important witness of the faith, a man of great Christian virtue who worked for peace and against the dictatorship and was assassinated while celebrating Mass." The screening is taking place at the Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 7:00 pm. The Cathedral is located at 604 North Raynor Avenue, Joliet, 60435.This event is free and open to the public.

Patience
Patience is a virtue that brings with it many rewards. One of the most rewarding benefits advanced by this virtue is found in the habit of delayed gratification. We live in a culture that is constantly shouting, You deserve it, and, you can have it right now! The result is many people fall prey to instant gratification. Instant gratification places a serious roadblock on our path to being the best disciples and stewards we can be. This is where patience can reward us. One of the hallmarks of stewardship is generosity. However, it is difficult to be generous if we too frequently give in to instant gratification. Advertisers would have us believe that we can spend our way to happiness. The truth is that sharing first and spending second is the path to sustained happiness and greater generosity. When it comes to developing patience with our spending habits, the best course of action is to preface every spending decision with the question, Do I need this or do I simply want it? This question is at the heart of good financial stewardship. The modern media feeds our subconscious minds with hundreds of images every day, all intended to blur the difference between what we legitimately need and what we simply want. If we are not careful these images can have a powerful influence on our attitudes. Whoever controls the images controls the culture (Bishop Robert Morneau).

MEET A SEMINARIAN PAUL SOLOMON

Paul Solomon first felt the call to the priesthood, when he was in seventh grade, serving Mass at SS Peter and Paul in Naperville. As he looked at the stained glass window of Christ the King, he felt a movement in his heart, and a voice speaking to him softly, Come, follow me and he was convinced that he was called to the priesthood, High school brought a big transition and sports became a priority. Paul was spending most of his time in football and baseball and living a typical high school life style. During his junior year, however, he realized that something was missing in his life and participating in Adoration and Reconciliation that was available afterwards allowed him to establish his prayer life. In senior year he made a visit to the College of St Thomas and Sr. John Vianney Seminary. Praying after Mass there, he heard the same voice he had heard seven years before, Come, follow me and felt sure that he was in the right place. Paul is now in his 3nd year of Theology at Pontifical North American College in Rome. Paul feels that he has been blessed by many great experiences and opportunities, and to be so close to Pope Emeritus Benedict as well as Pope Francis, to walk the streets that great saints and martyrs once walked and to be able to pray and study with students from all over the world.

ST. JOSEPH TABLE ON MARCH 16

Christ the King St. Joseph Table will be held in the school gymnasium on Sunday, March 16, at 1:00 P.M. Wont you please attend? You will have a great meatless meal and help people in need at the same time. The recipients for this years Table will be relief efforts for the people of the Philippines and Washington, Illinois. The Committee would like to start collecting items for the raffle baskets. If you have anything youd like to donate a bottle of wine, gift cards to your favorite restaurant, new holiday items, etc. - we would greatly appreciate receiving them. We can also use more large baskets, wired ribbon for bows and filler. We are in need of volunteers. Whats Happening at the ELA

Religion: Students are learning about St. Valentine and The Law of Love. This month we will focus on the miracle of Jesus making a sick man well and Jesus calming the storm. Preschoolers will also learn about St. Martin de Porres. Science: Explorations in milk painting and snow in the water table. We are still observing a few of the paper white bulbs and will plant our lima beans. During our "Transportation" unit, students will explore with ramps/vehicles. Handwriting: Preschool students are writing alphabet letters , calendar numbers and will begin initial full name writing. February units are "Dental Health" and "Transportation". A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
In todays Gospel Jesus continues to teach his followers how to embrace his attitude toward the Law, and its fulfillment. Among these familiar teachings, Jesus enjoins his followers to be generous givers without regard to whether they will receive equally back from those to whom they are being generous. He directs them not to refuse either the person who begs or the person who wants to borrow from them. They are not to react in these situations by trying to protect themselves and make sure that they will be treated fairly. Jesus wants his listeners to have an attitude toward another person that transcends that other persons character, motives or behavior. In this way, he maintains, they must be perfect, as their heavenly Father is perfect. How might we cultivate such an attitude toward giving?
