h est ella con su pocin mgica: una cucharada de yerba, otra de aceite de oliva y una de germen de trigo. Ella, al igual que cientos de mujeres, afirma que el conjuro ayuda a eliminar la grasitud del cutis. Slo se necesita calentar media taza de agua, sin hervir, y verter la yerba. Despus de cinco minutos, hay que colar y mezclar con la cucharada de aceite y germen de trigo, creando una pasta que se deber dejar actuar por unos 15 20 minutos en el rostro. Luego hay que enjuagar esa mscara con agua tibia. Un buen bao de inmersin puede ser el broche final y la excusa perfecta para seguir mimando la piel.

Yerba mate: el oro verde de la cosmtica

Lo cierto es que la yerba mate forma parte de nuestra vida cotidiana desde siempre, aunque de una manera diferente. En sus comienzos, los guaranes le atribuan poderes mgicos y la utilizaban como fuente de energa, purificadora de sangre y para restaurar el color del cabello. Hoy, ms all de ser la protagonista indiscutida del mate argentino, comenz a ser una de las grandes novedades en los tratamientos de belleza y una nueva apuesta para la industria cosmtica. Sus caractersticas antioxidantes, antiinflamatorias y lipolticas, as como las propiedades teraputicas y nutritivas que se le atribuye, como prevenir

el envejecimiento prematuro o combatir el sobrepeso y la celulitis, son motivos que despertaron de a poco el inters de las marcas lderes de la industria cosmtica. Uno de los laboratorios pioneros en elaborar una lnea de productos con extracto de este smbolo nacional fue Biocosmtica Exel. Enriquecido con extractos vegetales de centella asitica, Exel ofrece un kit compuesto de tres productos que apunta a la tan odiada celulitis: una mscara tipo Peel off de fcil aplicacin y que mejora notablemente la piel, una crema para masajes de uso en gabinete y un gel cream modelador para el control del aspecto de la celulitis.

Pero como en la vida de una mujer no todo lo que importa es la apariencia, tambin proponen el uso de piedras misioneras gatas y cristales para realizar masajes, tanto con cremas a base de yerba mate como con el cuenco en s. De esta manera se combina una alternativa integral y nica, dando respuesta a los tratamientos de relax y bienestar, los servicios ms solicitados en los spas y gabinetes estticos, detalla Mara Alejandra Fraser, gerente de Comunicaciones y Relaciones Institucionales de Exel. Mate Verde est compuesta por shampoo y jabones inspirados en la tradicin del mate en su inmenso color verde y tambin en las propiedades vigorizantes, refrescantes, purificantes y energizantes. Esta lnea Ekos se anim a ir un paso ms all y desafi prejuicios sexistas: Y por qu no? La firma decidi ampliar su pblico y crear la primera colonia masculina. Desarrollada especialmente para ellos, es un producto de aroma fresco que se compone de extractos aromticos de la hoja del mate verde y que contiene notas de madera, mbar y ctricos. A la par de los ya tradicionales tratamientos con chocolate, vino o barro y ms all de su uso cosmtico, la tendencia de ofrecer terapias a base de este producto autctono tambin comenz a ser incluida en los circuitos de spa de las grandes cadenas hoteleras. El Amerian Portal del Iguaz fue uno de los primeros en transformar la yerba mate en la estrella indiscutida de su resort. Adems de contar con productos propios como cremas, scrub, aceites, jabones y esencias a base de esta planta, disearon tres programas especiales, todos de

50 minutos de duracin. Por un lado, el tratamiento de Yerbaterapia Facial descongestiona, rejuvenece y otorga luminosidad a la piel; en cambio, el Mombay Kaayari es a nivel corporal y se trata de una revitalizacin cutnea con fangos orgnicos. La ltima propuesta del hotel es an ms ambiciosa: el Despertar Natural Selvtico, un tratamiento que busca revitalizar, renovar la piel y descontracturar cuello y cervicales; consta de un masaje hidratante y una suave exfoliacin a base de scrub de yerba mate y flores autctonas. Tambin en tierra jesuita, otro de los hoteles que no quisieron quedarse al margen de esta movida inspirada en la cultura aborigen fue el Sheraton, cuyo spa cre el programa Herbal Full Misionero. Durante 80 minutos, esta terapia consta de un pulido con yerba, una limpieza con mate cocido con leche, una mscara de yerba en polvo, y se termina con una hidroterapia con yerba acompaada de una infusin de mate cocido fro o caliente. Por su alto contenido de taninos y adems de tener un gran beneficio diurtico, sostienen que es ideal para la despigmentacin y aclarar las manchas de la piel.

A nice long soak in the bath then makes the finishing touch and is the perfect excuse to keep on pampering your skin. Yerba mate has always been part of daily life in Argentina, although it hasn't always had the same use. It has many interesting properties which have awoken interest in the cosmetics industry: it has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and lypolitic properties; not to mention its therapeutic and nutritional properties such as preventing premature aging and combating obesity and cellulitis. Biocosmtica Exel is one of the pioneering laboratories. It has developed a line of products using extracts from this Argentine drink. Enriched with centella asiatica vegetable extracts, Exel offers a three-step kit aimed at combating the much-hated cellulitis, it includes: an easy-to-apply peel off mask which notably improves the skin; a massage cream, and a shaping gel cream to control the appearance of cellulitis. crystals from Misiones for massages, as well as the use of the creams. "It means a complete, unique treatment that helps you to relax and feel good, which are the most requested treatments at spas," explains Mara Alejandra Fraser, Communications and Institutional Relations manager at Exel. Other cosmetics companies that have taken an interest in the uses of the yerba is the Brazilian company Natura: its Ekos Mate Verde line is made up of shampoos and soaps inspired by the "tradition of the drink and its intense green color, as well as its invigorating, refreshing, purifying, and energizing properties." The Ekos line has dared to go a step further and challenge gender bias - and why not? The firm has decided to expand its audience by creating its first men's cologne. Developed especially for men, it is a fresh aroma composed of aromatic extracts of green mate leaf and containing wood, amber, and citrus notes. Along with treatments featuring chocolate, wine, or mud, this natural product has now started to appear in spas at big hotel chains. The American Portal Del Iguazu was one of the first hotels to make yerba mate the undisputed star of its resort. In addition to its products such as creams, scrubs, oils, soaps, and scents based on this plant, the resort has also designed three special 50-minute programs. The treatments include the Yerbaterapia facial, which clears, rejuvenates and gives radiance to the skin, and the Mombay Kaayari, which is a full-body mud treatment that revitalizes the skin. The third treatment on offer at the hotel is even more adventurous: the Despertar Natural Selvtico: a treatment that seeks to revitalize and renew the skin and relax the neck and back. It includes a moisturizing massage and a gentle exfoliation using yerba mate and flowers from the region. Another hotel in the region who didn't want to get left behind is the Sheraton, whose spa has created the Herbal Full Misionero program. Lasting 80 minutes, this treatment involves a skin polishing using yerba mate, cleaning with brewed mate with milk, a powdered mate mask; and finally, a hydrotherapy treatment accompanied with a hot or cold yerba mate infusion drink. Because of its high tannin content and diuretic effect, experts argue that it is ideal for clarifying the skin's blemishes.

Antioxidante: La yerba mate es un antioxidante incluso ms potente que la vitamina C. Sus propiedades ms valiosas son las que contiene la hoja: ah es donde se conservan los activos polivalentes cafena y teobromina que estimulan la destruccin de las grasas y estimulan la circulacin. Antiage: Posee vitaminas B1, B2, B6 y C, minerales magnesio, potasio, sodio y calcio, protenas y fibras que ayudan a prevenir las arrugas y los efectos del paso del tiempo. Antioxidant: Yerba mate is an even more powerful antioxidant than vitamin C. Its most powerful properties are found in the plant's leaves where its polyvalent actives - caffeine and theobromine are stored; these stimulate both the destruction of fats and circulation. Anti-aging: It contains vitamins B1, B2, B6, and C; minerals - magnesium, potassium, sodium and calcium; proteins and fibers that help prevent wrinkles and aging. Its active ingredients are catechins - nervous system stimulants that combat mental and physical fatigue, - saponins - powerful antioxidants, - and tannin - which aids healing, acts as an astringent, and give the plant its skin clarifying properties.
