or Sides. * Tapped Holes Permit Mounting Blocks on Face Plates or Angle Irons. THE new Starrett No. 568 is a precision V-Block designed for the most accurate tool-room and layout work. Exclusive features give it extra utility and versatility not found in other types of blocks. By means of special stepped groove and clamp design, the clamp can be mounted on the V-block in a low or high position for small or large work. Clamps do not project; block can be used on base, ends or sides. The V-block holds both square or round work since the clamp has screw holes at 45 and 90 permitting positive clamping of each type of work in either position. By means of this feature the block holds round work up to 2 diameter and square work up to 1-7/16 (or 1-9/ 16 square with screw at top). An added feature are the tapped holes used for mounting the V-block on face plates or angle irons. The V-block is made of hardened steel. All sides are precision ground parallel and square and the V-groove is ground central and parallel to the sides and base. Clamp is made of steel. Starrett No. 568 V-Blocks are available as a single V-block and clamp, clamp only, or in a matched pair consisting of two V-blocks with clamps. V-grooves of matched pairs have perfect alignment.

V BLOCK AND CLAMP

H ERE is an improved V Block and Clamp with features not found in other blocks and clamps. It can be used on base, on end, also flat on either side as the clamp is provided with an adjustable side screw with caps to support the block and prevent tilting when drilling, grinding or milling. The groove at the stepped end is at a right angle to the base and is handy for holding shouldered studs, round pins, etc. A hole clearance for drilling and removing dowel pins is provided in the block. The block also has four 3/8-16 tapped holes, two in the base and one on each side so that it can be attached to an angle iron. The angle iron holding the block can then be attached to a lathe faceplate or held by a magnetic chuck. The block is made of special tool steel, hardened and precision ground to extreme accuracy. The sides are ground parallel and the groove is ground central and parallel to the sides and the base. Clamp is made from a forging and nicely finished. The block is approximately 1 7/8 inches square, and the base length is about 3 inches. Capacity approximately 1 5/16 inches.
