THE POSCO GROUP OF COMPANIES

The name POSCO is deeply associated with being the largest manufacturer of steel in Korea and a primary producer of electrogalvanised iron (EGI) products and services, providing the steel industry with a technology that is highly recognised worldwide. POSCOs origins are in Korea where the parent company resides and from which vantage point, it operates an impressive network of POSCO companies beyond its shores, such as in China, United States, Mexico, Vietnam, India and Malaysia. In Korea, POSCO owns the largest steel mill operating 1.40 million MT/yr EGI manufacturing lines. Since its establishment over 40 years ago, POSCO has risen to the top of the global steel industry and is ranked today, in position as the fourth most prominent king of steel in the world. In being a major player in the development of the steel industry in Korea and the region, POSCOs vision is to share its technology and expertise with others through its team of EGI specialists. POSCO-MALAYSIA is one such collaboration, an investment that has resulted in POSCO assisting the local EGI production to adequately meet domestic demand.

POSCO-MALAYSIA was launched in April 2008, although POSCOs involvement in Malaysias steel industry dates back to the 1990s when its technical teams first provided the industrial relationship with the necessary support, expertise and professional training. Advanced EGI technology has afforded POSCO to synonymously represent quality, consistency and innovation in the long term, with EGI to be used in myriad applications. The use of EGI products is most evident in our environment as they help construct infrastructures in a needful market. POSCO-MALAYSIA has been equipped with full technical support, and is well positioned to flourish as its plant base is well-grounded in a leading and tried technology and the employment of qualified personnel and leadership. POSCO-MALAYSIA is located in the industrial park of Pulau Indah with quick access to the ports and the city of Klang. The area is served by first-class network of highways and secondary roads. The EGI plant, jointly conceived by Malaysian engineers and EGI specialists from POSCO is testimony to a successful partnership between Malaysia and Korea.
