I was not born with a machine in my hand but it was a close thing. It all started during my childhood.

. I still remember, the first time I fell in love with engineering. My father brought me to Subang Airport specifically into hangar where he works. For the first time in my life, I saw how an airplane was assembled and being prepared for take-off. It was a memorable day. I still remember every second in my mind. I saw directly with my naked eye the airplane taking off. The noise, the heat unbelievable! I continuously asked my father the same questions frequently about how it can fly? How to make it fly? What will happen when it crashes? All the unsolved questions. He simply smiled to me and said, that is an engineers job. So, I simply fell in love at first sight with engineering. Rome was not built in a day neither was my passion for engineering. I started to learn science in primary school. Then, when I was in high school, I learnt science in three specific subjects which were Physics, Biology and Chemistry. I was really passionate to study these especially Physics, as I found it suits me well. In Physics, I learnt about Bernoullis Principle which answered my question which I asked earlier. This encouraged me to study more and more in physics to find specific answers. Then I realized all my questions can be answered by studying engineering. With the goal in my mind, I push myself to the limit to succeed in SPM (Malaysia Certificate of Education). It is worth when I was able to get straight As with 6A+. Soon after, I have managed to get a scholarship from JPA (Public Service Departments) to continue my studies in A-Level. Whilst sustaining a high academic standard, I managed to organize my time and became involved in school leadership. I was a chief in Residency and Welfare bureau and president in Kadet Remaja Sekolah (school scouts) where I was given the opportunity to hone my leadership skills. Moreover, it taught me to make decisions in a stressful environment as I was busy with my academic, sports and position. Sometimes I felt stress when having a lot of work, but I managed to do it with help from teachers and colleagues. It taught me the beauty of teamwork. I am a very enthusiastic sportsman, I play a lot of sports and have won many of medals and trophies. Despite reducing stress, sports also teach me to give 100% commitment in order to achieve my goals. I also learnt an important thing which is communication skills with my team mates. It reminds me about how we need other peoples help to accomplish our goals together. Related to this, I learnt to give maximum contributions to everything I do. After graduated from high school, I managed to work as Store Assistance in 7Eleven by 3 month where one of my responsibilities was to deal with Slurpee machine. The experience was fascinating and I learnt basic thing to handle real deal machine. The machine look simple from outside, but it complicated than expected. I quickly learnt and understood the function of each part in Slurpee machine as I eager to do so. I leant that every single part is important to be a perfect machine. It boost up my determination to do more work using a machine. Recently, I read about a new discovery in the behaviour of electrons in superconducting materials. The finding by scientists at Cornell University could lead to conducting electricity without power loss and eventually lead to cheaper electrical power. It amazed me and boost my determination and passion to learn more about engineering.

Living and studying abroad is very challenging and differs from doing it locally as I can challenge myself to face a new environment, society and technology. It is an honour and I hope to pursue my study in your university as well as become a successful engineer in the future. I would love to learn more about culture and the way of life in the UK as I have never been there before.
