h is a natural ecosystem right here in Trinidad that covers some 1800 hectares just south of the Northern range. It is a protected property and has been designated an Environmentally Sensitive Area. Objective: Observe the different types of flora and fauna Present at the Aripo Savannah To collect a fresh Soil sample from the top 18cm of the soil this would then be analysed in the school laboratory. The following parameters to be tested are Soil Texture, Soil Organic Content, Gravel Metric Soil Content and pH. To observe the impact of man and his activities on the environment at Aripo Savanna. Activities: Eco-tourism is a form of tourism involving visiting fragile, pristine, and relatively undisturbed natural areas, intended as a low-impact and often small scale alternative to standard commercial (mass) tourism. Environmental awareness is about being conscious of the world around you. Having concern for the world and the environment is what environmental awareness is all about. Living a 'green' lifestyle is the main concern of environmental awareness. Quarrying: is the surface exploitation and removal of stone or mineral deposits from the earth's crust Bird watching: is the observation of birds as a recreational activity. It can be done with the naked eye, through a visual enhancement device like binoculars and telescopes, or by listening for bird sounds because some birds are very hard to spot and by sound their position can be narrowed down.

Observations: Its was observed in Aripo savanna there was squatting and small business along the way also biotic feature were present like Palmae most species being tall, unbranched trees ,Gravel, Clay in the soil and sand on the top soil with minerals, small bunkers, sink hole due to mans impact on digging for gravel (quarrying),bread and cheese orchid, Razor grass ,liana plant that grows on the trunk ,ferns and shrubs (short grasses),eco-tone between the savanna and marsh palm and forest also the soil was much more moist in the marsh ,other vegetation ,red bellied macaw could of been seen flying from palm to palm signs of eaten fruit from the palm that armadillo ate were seen . Eco- tone between the marsh forest and the savanna.

Comment: On enters to the savanna there was a sign to inform the public that the savanna is protected by law and any damage or form of hunting or pouching of organisms occurs and u are catch you will be prostituted. There were not a a lot of ranges to over the savanna to my knowledge as the guide said theres only 2 ranges to watch over 1800 hectares The were signs of a the savanna healing itself for recent activity maybe a fire . There was so presents of human activity not to present because it became part of the eco- system like presents of a pathway for man to walk cause flooding on some parts of the savanna and sink holes became ponds ,and bunkers became a habitat for bats , termits and other organisms.

Follow up activities: 1. Collection of data upon arrival to school. 2. Testing of the soil was carried out in the schools laboratory. 3. Analysis of data 4. Map of the area was developed of the sample

Entry number - 2 Date: Thursday 24th October, 2013 Site 1: Asa Wright Nature Reserve (Blanchisseuse road, Arima, North Trinidad) Objective : Observe the different types of flora and fauna Present at the Asa
Wright Nature Reserve To collect a fresh Soil sample from the top 18cm of the soil this would then be analysed in the school laboratory. The following parameters to be tested are Soil Texture, Soil Organic Content, Gravel Metric Soil Content and pH. . To observe the impact of man and his activities on the environment at Asa Wright Nature Reserve.

Activities: Eco-tourism: is a form of tourism involving visiting fragile,

pristine, and relatively undisturbed natural areas, intended as a low-impact and often small scale alternative to standard commercial (mass) tourism. There was a presents of moss with indicated there was a high moisture content in the soil and there were large habitat of ants in the soil also there was a high density of different species.

Comment:Asa Wright Nature Reserve centre was on the reserve with and in its location the reserve could be over seen from its location and the area for bird watching on the reserve was man modified to attract the birds by use of flowers ,bird house ,bird bath and fruit . The reserve centre was a pleasant area to be and was used for eco-tourism as there were rooms to accompany tourism or visit like a motel.

There were hunting banned signs placed in visible location on the watershed sanctuary. There was a thin top soil due to roots being see outside the soil and a canopy tree fell . Comment:There was a presents of litter .Southern Watershed Game Sanctuary division was on the site and there was a presents of police patrol watching over the land . There was fibrous roots in the soil as there was a thin top soil . There was a low density of species diversity by observing and the teak trees were more narrow and there only one point of enter of and exit . The Southern Watershed Game Sanctuary was well protected area and permission muct be granted to enter the area, the watersed area helps with the hydrous cycle . There were signs of hunting banned signs in the area but the signs were not as visible because of branch or leafs grew off the sign
