Comments
1. It is important for students to understand that the trig ratios are derived from ratios of
corresponding sides in similar right triangles.
2. Problems must go beyond the simple calculation of the measure of a side or an angle.
3. Students will be able to find the area of a triangle using Heron’s (Hero’s) formula.
4. Although the 416 program includes the law of sines, it does not cover the law of cosines.
However, most problems which might normally indicate the use of the law of cosines can be
solved in other ways.
