Below you will find a list of new varieties, some of which we hope you would like to try. You are welcome to choose 5 or 6 varieties, once chosen, please email us your name, address, and varieties that you would like to try or alternatively fill in and detach the slip at the end and fax or post it to us, keeping the information for future sowing instruction. Subject to availability, we will then send out the samples that you would like to try. All we ask for in return is information on how it grows, yield, good and bad points, and photographs where possible. Cherry Falls Tomato: Great tasting, early maturing cherry tomatoes which are perfect for hanging baskets. A high yielding, determinate type with a bushy habit. Sow thinly, 0.5cm (") deep, in a pot of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20C (60-68F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Transplant to individual pots when 10-15cm (4-6") tall. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out May-June into fertile compost in patio tubs with drainage holes or baskets, when frosts are over. Harvest: July-October. Boldor (Yellow) Beet: Attractive round roots producing a distinctive orange flesh with yellow internal colour. Sow Mar to June outdoors, directly into the garden in shallow drills about 1cm ( ") deep. Days to germination: 7-14 days. Thin the plants to 3" apart as they grow. Prefers sun. Palace F1 Parsnip: Very vigorous, top quality, smoothskinned, wedge bayonet-shaped roots with good resistance to canker. Sow outdoors, late March to May, in drills 2.5cm (1) deep and 45cm (18) apart. Thin seedlings gradually until plants are 23cm (9) apart. Hoe regularly and keep soil moist. Harvest: October-February. The roots may be left in the ground until required, as frost will enhance the flavour. Organic Miami F1 Carrot: A versatile, consistent and reliable variety with vigorous early growth. Very

healthy upright foliage with strong, high quality cylindrical roots. Well-adapted as either an early or a main season carrot. Sow March June 1cm (1/2) deep in rows 15cm (6) apart for early bunching or 30cm (1ft) apart for maincrop carrots. Thin seedlings to 2.5cm (1) for early bunching or 8-15cm (3-5) for maincrop carrots. Divina Lettuce: Divina produces generous, wavyleaved heads approximately 500 grams in weight. Slow to bolt, resistance to tip-burn even in very hot conditions. Suitable for sowing Feb-Jun, harvesting May-Sep. Sow 1cm (1/2) deep directly in the soil thinning to 30cm (1ft) or alternatively sow indoors and transplant once all risk of frost has gone. Red Hawk F1 Beetroot: Tolerant to mildew and drought, resists running to seed. Outdoors: Sow thinly, March-July, where they are to crop, 2.5cm (1") deep. Allow 30cm (1') between rows. Thin seedlings to 10cm (4") apart. Water well until plants are established. Harvest: June-October. Parthenon F1 Broccoli: Parthenon is a vigorous stout plant that produces large heads of excellent quality in cold weather. Sow April to June direct at a depth of 13mm (1/2). Alternatively seeds can be started in seed trays and planted out 5-8 weeks later. Transfer plants to their final growing place when large enough to handle, allowing 60cm (24) between plants each way. Water well during spells of dry weather. Maturity 80-85 days after planting out. Ophelia F1 Aubergine: Throughout the summer this compact Aubergine produces an abundance of golf ball sized, baby aubergines. Indoors: Sow aubergine seeds from Early March to May or late March to April for outdoors. Sow seeds on the surface of a free draining, moist seed compost and cover with 6mm (0.25") layer of vermiculite or compost. Place in a propagator or seal the container inside a polythene bag at constant temperature of 18-21C (65-70F) until after germination which takes 10-14 days. When the seedlings are large enough to handle transplant them into 7.5cm (3") pots and grow on at a slightly reduced temperature. When all risk of frost is passed and the soil is warm, harden off and plant aubergines in their final positions. For indoor cultivation, pot on into larger containers or plant 2 aubergines per growbag. Outdoors, plant aubergines in rich fertile soil at a distance of 90cm (3') apart, in rows spaced 90-120cm (3-4') apart. Grow aubergines in a sheltered position in full sun. Planting through black plastic mulch will

help to warm the soil, control weeds and save moisture. Golden Pearl F1 Tomato: Attractive and sweet-tasting cherry type tomatoes, which show good tolerance to cracking, plus resistance to T.M.V. and Fusarium. For greenhouse crops, sow February/April under glass 1821C (65-70F). Grow in well prepared borders, large pots or growing bags, removing laterals as they appear. For outdoor crops, sow April under glass 1821C (65-70F). Grow in warm, sunny positions in well prepared, moisture retentive soil allowing 45-60cm (1-2') between plants, and water regularly in dry periods. (16-18 weeks maturity.) Century F1 Melon: They have a lovely appetising fragrance and a delicious tasty orange flesh with very high sugar content. They are vigorous and have good disease resistance. Outdoors, give the plants a warm, sheltered, sunny position. These hold better than other varieties! Sow indoors with heat 20C (68F) during April/May. Reduce watering when fruit is ripening to improve the flavour. Megaton F1 Leek: An early new hybrid which stands in excellent condition for several weeks with no risk of 'bolting'. Dark green leaves, a good length of white shank and a fine flavour make Megaton F1 one of the best 'earlies'. Sowing time to March to April, planting out in June to early July transplant when 20cm (8) high, trimming the leaf and root before inserting in a 15cm (6) deep hole. Spacing 45cm (18) rows with 15-23cm (6-9) between plants. Romance F1 Carrot: Enjoy coreless 'finger' roots with an exceptionally sweet flavour in just 80 days with this fast maturing Nantes-type. Carrot 'Romance' is ideal for early sowings under cover when day lengths are short and this useful variety crops equally well as a maincrop. Direct sow carrot seeds outdoors from March to July. Early varieties may also be sown from February to March in greenhouse borders or under cloches. Grow Carrots in a weed free, sunny position in fertile, light, well drained soil. Carrots dislike freshly manured soils so seed beds are best prepared in autumn, well in advance of spring sowings. Sow carrot seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm () in drills 30cm (12") apart. Germination will take 10 to 20 days. When large enough to handle, thin out the seedlings within each row to 10cm (4) apart. Honeysnax F1 Carrot: 63 days. Produces a long, tapered, slender 23-27cm (9-11) mild sweet tender

root with blunt tips and deep orange interior colour. Direct sow carrot seeds outdoors from March to July. Early varieties may also be sown from February to March in greenhouse borders or under cloches. Grow Carrots in a weed free, sunny position in fertile, light, well drained soil. Carrots dislike freshly manured soils so seed beds are best prepared in autumn, well in advance of spring sowings. Sow carrot seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm () in drills 30cm (12") apart. Germination will take 10 to 20 days. When large enough to handle, thin out the seedlings within each row to 10cm (4) apart. Seoul F1 Cauliflower: Summer and autumn, 75-85 day type producing exceptionally dense, and very white curds. Sow 1cm (1/2) deep in the seed bed, transplant 60cm (2ft) apart each way. Summer/autumn varieties should be sown outdoors in April and transplanted in June to early July. Antartica Lettuce: An outstanding iceberg that will extend your cropping season well into autumn. Very slow to filling, giving a wide harvest window and the ability to stand well once mature, without splitting. Crunchy texture with a lovely flavour. Resistant to downy mildew races Bl 1-27 and a good resistance to tipburn. Sow April-June in rows 30cm (1ft) apart, thinning plants to 30cm (1ft) apart. Dutchman F1 Pointed Cabbage: Improved disease resistance and slower growing habit compared to Duchy makes it an ideal chioce for the home gardener. Shows good early vigour and has a narrow base making it suitable for baby pointed cabbage production when planted at a higher density. Sow March-May thinning to 23-45cm (9-18) apart or sow indoors and plant out when ready. Tinty F1 Pointed Red Cabbage: New pointed red F1 Hybrid, same maturtiy as Dutchman. Tinty F1 is a superb variety, having the feel and taste of a green pointed cabbage but with the punch of vibrant red colour that gives visual impact on the plate. Looks striking when shredded in a mixed salad, can be steamed, cooked, stir-fryed and can even be microwaved. Sow as Dutchman. Delistar F1 Cucumber: Short, thin skinned variety with a crunchy sweet taste. Delistar is only 16-18cm in length, 3-4cm wide with a fruit weight of 80-100 grams. Very thin translucent skin, therefore no peeling is required. High dry matter leading to a pleasant crunchy texture and sweet aromatic taste.

Sow March for heated greenhouse April for cold greenhuse production. A temperature of 21-27C (7080F) will be required for germination and good seedling development. Plant in 25cm (10) pots or two per growbag during late March to early April (heated) or end of May for unheated greenhouses. Dual Dwarf French Bean: Extra fine tasty bean on compact plants held above foliage for easy picking. Perfect for containers on the patio. Sow April-July, harvesting June-Ocotber. Sow 15cm (6) apart in rows 60-75cm (24-30) wide. Do not sow until danger of frost has passed.

El Greco F1 Courgette: Early maturing variety with mid green fruits, if picked regularly the plant will produce prolific amounts of fruit throughout the summer. Glossy slightly speckled green fruits have a wonderful flavour without any biterness. Erect open habit making it easy to pick the fruits with good resistance to po wdery milder. RHS AGM. Sow outdoors end of May to early June or transplant seed sown in April indoors, during early June. Final spacing should be a minimum of 60cm (2ft in each direction).
