ALSA (Asian Law Students’

Association) is an independent student


organization that had been in its
existence to enrich the knowledge and
network of Asian Law Students for
almost 2 decades.

Originated by ASEAN Law Students’


Association that had been established in
May 18, 1989 by several law students
from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines,
Singapore, and Thailand in the first ALSA
Conference in Jakarta.

The objectives of ALSA is to develop


and enrich each ALSA members through
the diversity of legal systems of every
ALSA countries.

And by September 7, 2002, ALSA with


the law students from Japan, Korea,
China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong from
East Asian Law Students’ Association
merged into the present ALSA through
the Tokyo Agreement.

Now ALSA consists of: Indonesia,


Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand,
Philippines, Japan, Korea, China,
Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, India,
and Hong Kong.

And ALSA Indonesia consists of 12


Local Chapters which are: UNSYIAH,
UNSRI, UI, UNPAD, UGM, UNDIP,
UNSUD, UNEJ, UNAIR, UNIBRAW,
UNHAS, and UNSRAT.
