DAVID AYER

BIOGRAPHY: David Ayer born January 18, 1968, is an American screenwriter, film producer and director. He was born in Champaign, Illinois, on January 18, 1968, and grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota, and Bethesda, Maryland, where he was kicked out of his house by his parents as a teenager. Ayer then lived with his cousin in Los Angeles, California, where his experiences in South Central Los Angeles became the inspiration for many of his films. Ayer then enlisted in the United States Navy as a submariner. FORM: This photo is part of a collection called Time Travel, where Ayer used light projection to set vintage landscape photography onto female bodies. The landscape on this particular female body is a city landscape with famous landmarks and buildings. The image is constructed so that the horizon comes up just over the breast and the arms covering the body dont distort the photo but give it a textured tone so that the image doesnt look flat. A bright light is also projected on the upper part of the body to reflect the sky and sun so the entire landscape is in sight. PROCESS: In each shot, Davis masterfully blends projections with a woman's body, turning them into intriguing pieces of art almost creating the appearance of tattoos. Ayer makes the body form match and link up with the womens body making the images stand out and look very artistic and carefully composed. He used a black background to enhance the atmosphere of the vintage images. It also doesnt make the outline of the body completely stand out otherwise it would depict from the photo of the landscape which is the main point of the photo. For my shoot I will use a females body and layer on my photographs of fire to represent a belief of Christianity within both mind and body. CONTENT: The layering of the fire images onto the body will represent how religions and beliefs can alter the body, specifically Christianity as that is the religion i am focusing on, and the way Christians live by stories from the Bible and how the fire is incorporated within the religion and what significance is has to Christians. For some believers it will signify the purify they strive for and the forgiveness of any sins, however others may see it as the awaiting punishment of God for any sins, and they may change the way they live and act to avoid the punishment .By constructing the flames onto the body, it will show the extent of how Christianity and the symbolism of fire can affect a person and how important it is to that individual and also the different meanings it can have, depending of the extent of a belief or interpretation.
