FI-SL DataSource

FI-SL is a system in which data (planned and actual) from different levels of OLTP applications such as FI-GL !"-P"# and "O-""# can $e com$ined% In S#P &'( !nterprise FI-SL enhances the functions and usa$ility of these applications without restrictin) their operative functions in any way% FI-SL includes plannin) functions and reportin) tools% FI-SL reportin) is however restricted* "ross-application reportin) is not as diverse as S#P +, reportin)% The OLTP system is optimi-ed for transaction processin) and a hi)h reportin) wor.load would have a ne)ative impact on the overall performance of the system%

FI Special Purpose Ledger system

In the special purpose led)er application you can define your own led)ers for reportin)% /ou can run these led)ers with any account assi)nment o$0ects such as S#P dimensions from the various applications (account cost center $usiness area profit center) and dimensions of your own (re)ion)% These special-purpose led)ers ena$le you to report across several levels on the values from the various applications% The modules availa$le in the special purpose led)ers )ive you several options for manipulatin) the data that has $een transferred from other S#P applications and e1ternal systems into the special purpose led)ers%

The operative functions of other S#P applications are not affected when you use the special purpose led)ers% The Special Purpose Led)er System (FI-SL) is a receiver system that stores data from various S#P applications% It is not a sender system for other S#P applications% In FI-SL you can use fle1i$le data structures with additional fields that correspond to individual $usiness re2uirements% This allows you to com$ine and summari-e information for any num$er of code com$inations at any level of detail% 3p to three currencies and two 2uantities can $e run in parallel in FI-SL% Selective data retrieval* The assi)nment of transactions to particular com$inations of company code'led)er or company'led)er determines which led)ers are updated usin) the data from the applications%

In addition to data from FI "O 44 and S5 e1ternal data and data that is entered directly can also $e posted into FI-SL% /ou can use various functions to update data in the FI-SL special purpose led)er* 6alidation chec.s whether there are any freely-defina$le rules for the data that is )oin) to $e updated% Su$stitution replaces the data with the modified data accordin) to a set of rules $efore the update starts% Led)er Selection allows selected led)ers to $e updated for data from a transaction% The fields that are transferred determine which characteristics'dimensions are used in the FI-SL system% /ou use these dimensions when you desi)n your special purpose led)er% Operations availa$le for FI-SL data* The Currency translation function translates amounts that have $een posted to the led)er in the FI-SL system% #t the end of the fiscal year you use the Balance carryforward function to transfer actual and plan values from the previous fiscal year into the new fiscal year% Allocation (assessment'distri$ution) is the transfer of an amount that has already $een posted from a sender-o$0ect to one or more receiver-o$0ects such as distri$ution of overhead costs amon) several cost centers% /ou can create roll up ledgers containin) cumulated and summari-ed data from one or more other led)ers to speed up report processin) times (compara$le with a))re)ates in +,)% The +, 5ataSources prepare the data that is )oin) to $e updated in the +usiness Information ,arehouse%
