1804. The Dillinger Htte steel mill rolls its rst steel plate. In 1845, a company which later becomes part of MannesmannrhrenWerke produces continental Europes rst welded steel pipe. In 1991, these two steel industry pioneers AG der Dillinger Httenwerke and Mannesmannrhren-Werke AG decide to pool their experience and know-how and create EUROPIPE. Our rich heritage in terms of steel technology and manufacturing expertise plus the dedication and hard work of our people enabled us to achieve some very demanding objectives. Today we are the world-market leader in large-diameter pipe production for the oil and gas sector and have the most extensive manufacturing footprint in our industry. With ve mills in Europe, the USA and Brazil, annually producing over 3,000 kilometres of large-diameter pipe for pipeline projects EUROPIPEs core business is the manufacturing of largediameter longitudinally and helically welded pipes, while the sales department Special Products serves smaller volume projects and non-linepipe applications. EUROPIPE Special Products, working together with its clients, has already delivered over 100,000 tons of pipes into non-linepipe applications. These include civil engineering applications, e.g. the roof support frame of the stadium AWD Arena in Hanover / Germany and the exposition hall Neue Messe in Stuttgart / Germany. Offshore constructions, e.g. tension leg pipes for the world record water depth offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Through its shareholders, EUROPIPE has access to steel production and plate rolling capacities of over 3 million tons per year; much more than needed to feed EUROPIPEs production lines and always assuring our supply of high quality input material. The inter-company lines of communication for planning, data transfer and R&D are interlocked as if we are an integrated company. Through this, EUROPIPE has full quality control over the entire value chain, from steel production and plate rolling to pipe making including coating and shipment if ordered. This situation enables EUROPIPE to optimise all production parameters from chemical composition to plate rolling schemes, to pipe forming and welding; all to create the best product for your needs.

Having Salzgitter Mannesmann GmbH as a shareholder, gives EUROPIPE full access to Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschungs (SZMF) exhaustive R&D resources. SZMF offers the complete knowledge of steel manufacturing starting with the blast furnace and plate rolling to pipe manufacturing and coating. This includes the pipe material but also processing and pipe design. This means that EUROPIPE benets from one of the most advanced metallurgical laboratories for steel research, development and testing. With all its resources and possibilities, EUROPIPE can therefore easily customise a product according to clients project specications.

Our coating partners are subsidiaries of EUROPIPE, and consist of MLheim PipeCoatiNgs GmbH (MPC) in Mlheim an der Ruhr / Germany and eb Pipe Coating, Inc. in Panama City / FL USA. All our mills have either integrated coating facilities or trusted coating partners close by. With the coating facilities situated in direct vicinity to the pipe mills, EUROPIPE is in prime position to ensure optimum quality, fast delivery and favourable terms. Coating is a specialist task calling for specialist skills, and our coating experts can lean on decades of experience.

EUROPIPEs core business is the development, manufacturing and supply of large-diameter pipes for pipeline projects in the oil and gas industry. EUROPIPE Special Products serves non-linepipe applications using all of EUROPIPEs strengths. EUROPIPEs globally renown high quality level and large capacity will always enable us to full the requirements for non-linepipe projects including demands on a smaller scale. Although most of EUROPIPEs production lines are set up for fast mass production of pipes, small projects benet from the 12-metre line in Mlheim an der Ruhr / Germany, which has a greater exibility in terms of diameters and wall thicknesses. Our pipes have been used in many marine engineering, offshore construction and civil engineering projects. Major structures often use tubular frames for the advantages they offer in high rigidity and reduced weight. The stadium EUROPIPE provides all the benets of cutting edge pipeline engineering to your project. AWD Arena in Hanover / Germany, uses EUROPIPE pipes for the roofs support frame. In a stadium capable of holding 49,000 people, security is the rst concern and no risk can be taken. When it comes to marine engineering, offshore construction or jetties, the corrosive nature of sea water can be a major issue and cause for cost increases. As a large percentage of pipelines are offshore, EUROPIPE pipes are made to withstand the harsh corrosive nature of salt water. On top of this EUROPIPE pipes are all designed to perform at extreme temperatures and have a high fatigue resistance.

New AppLiCatioNs
EUROPIPE is a joint venture of two of the leading companies in the eld of high quality steel production in Europe. Needless to say, we know teamwork and have always worked very closely with our clients to ensure that all their needs are fullled and that maximum efciency in the eld is achieved. EUROPIPE has and is prepared to enter, in partnership with our customers, into completely new elds of applications where EUROPIPE pipes can be a crucial success factor. For example, EUROPIPE pipes are used to develop a new way of marine gas transportation. In this project, pipes are installed on ships as perfectly adapted containers for the storage of gas during transportation. Gas on CNG ships is stored in the pipes under high pressure at ambient temperature, needing only minimal infrastructure investments for loading and unloading. This compares to LNG tankers where gas is liqueed at -162 C and requires an expensive infrastructure. In this specic project, fatigue resistance was the main design criteria for the pipes. To address this issue, EUROPIPE developed the EUROPIPEs pipes, steel expertise and production capacity make its partners successful in their elds of expertise. EUROPIPE pipes are used in jacket structures as offshore foundations for large multi MW wind turbines for deep water installation. Creating a new design using EUROPIPE steel expertise, standard pipes and coating, a cost efcient structure was produced having a direct impact on the nancial viability of this offshore wind park concept. EUROPIPEs research and development for this new product made the project possible and successful.
