. Teaching Methods: *The content will gradually be introduced to the students over the course of the unit *As the course will consist of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, I will be teaching the students math and science content without necessarily presenting the correct, proper terminology- however, still getting the idea across *Each of the labs will be an opportunity to present new and different content, while still connecting the content to the overall unit *The students will be engaged from the beginning in hands-on activities and will work together to complete each of the assignments *At the end of each of the days of the mini-course, I will have the group come together as a whole to not only discuss findings, but strategies as well

Curriculum Materials: *crime scene materials *materials for each activity: *assassination/famous murder article *overview of crime scene *fingerprints *footprints *lie detector activity *crime lab *crime lab stations *solving the mystery *possible materials for going further activity

Knowledge of Students and Context: *I am not under the constraint of having to follow math or science curriculum *I will be doing my integrative unit during the mini-course period of the year at TPS *6th-8th graders work together in each of the mini-courses *very familiar with CSI and related shows on television *familiar with the scientific model of thinking *the students have an idea of probability *I will present the theory without the formal terminology

Theories of Teaching and Learning: *Classroom management *Oakes & Lipton *classroom as a learning community *Gilles *promoting cooperative learning among students *Weinstein *setting up the classroom in such a way to promote cooperation *Differentiation *Tomlinson *providing material appropriate for grades 6-8

Educational Philosophy and Beliefs: *With the help of the course books that I both borrowed and have bought, I will set up the room as if it is a true crime scene so that the students are immersed in the lesson from the second they step in the room *I will set up the classroom following the guidelines of the activity books so that the students will have the opportunity to break up into smaller groups in order to spend more time marking up observation papers outlining their section of the scene *For each of the days, there will be different labs that the students will be working in their groups at
