An Action Research of Creative Teaching in the


Taichung Municipal Hiang Shang Junior High School:
Take the Learning Areas of Science & Living Technology, Arts &
Humanities and Health & Physical Education as Cases.

ABSTRACT
The main purpose of the research is to discuss that what problems we encounter
and how to solve them when we teach the learning areas of science & living
technology, arts & humanities and health & physical education through creative
teaching in junior high school and to find out the learning effect of students.
The three teachers that join the research teach full time in Taichung Municipal
Hiang Shang Junior High School. All of them are holders of the master degree and are
all good at combining theory with practice toward their teaching areas. We take action
research into this ten-month project and choose two classes of 1st grade or 2nd grade
students from those students that the three teachers teach. One of the classes was
taught with the original teaching form of the teacher, but the other class was taught
with the creative teaching form and plans which were designed by the three teachers.
The three teachers try to find out the proper solutions to the problems they encounter,
do the research continuously through classroom observation, questionnaire, interview,
and research journal, and improve their teaching through self-reflection.
Through the research, we find that the three teachers all hold an opinion that
creative teaching form can promote the interaction between teachers and students and
make great progress in students learning effects. However, the main difficulties and
introspection of each teacher in the process of the research are different from
individual teaching areas. The teacher who teaches science & living technology
cant completely carry out his creative teaching ideas because of students pressure in
entering a higher school and the limit of curriculum scheduled progress. But the
teachers who teach arts & humanities and health & physical education can put their
creative teaching ideas into practice more without the restriction of the pressure.
