grade to share next time. A group that has consistently gotten along. Tech has helped because more people are coaching now. k. Arts-- absenteeism is becoming a problem. Julie Elliott at HPMS is taking a more of a lead, but is getting frustrated because of the absenteeism and lack of attendance. There is also a problem with teachers not embodying the IB philosophy and refusal to "do" MYP/IB. Admin will address this issue with these teachers to review the expectations of them. It is not certain what will come of these discussions, but it should not rest on Julie Elliott, the HPMS Art teacher to lead these discussions. l. Counselors--transition, talked about flipping science classes order and what that would mean for incoming 9th graders. It would be helpful for students. m. This then led to a discussion about accelerated courses-- quality, quantity, in class work vs. out of class workload and expectations; there has even been discussion to limit 9th graders to 2 accelerated courses. This is still in the discussion stages and has in no way been adopted as a policy. The rationale behind this idea is that this will be to help students and parents know what would be an appropriate class schedule for their student. Accelerated classes at the HS level are more intensive than in the MS level, but there is anecdotal evidence that the students are doing better now than they were in the fall. There will be no hard and fast rule, but there are items to consider. Level 2 language B classes seems to be too easy for the challenge classes. This has made a concern regarding what language levels can feasibly be offered. It's hard to find enough electives for upperclassmen. But not all kids come with a strong language background so there will be a need for level 1 classes. Doa Hoff stated that: Vertical articulation will help the teachers address this organically which allowed for transition to: Dr, Tucker: 2 questions: 1.) we have to purposely plan for everyone to be engaged and for everyone to see the purpose and value in IB. 2.) can we get staff survey input? (In May Marissa and Linda will be doing this.)

4.) Action in the MYP (3) training: Wolff and Auran in Boca Raton. The next chapter is the new book. Their key learning can be described in three categories: a. Implementation needs i. identify leaders to move this forward ii. assess where we are in terms of action in curriculum.

iii. Decide how much to talk about documenting MYP etc; however training indicated that the evidence of the action is in the curriculum. b. Process i. Pat and Boca Raton = white on rice ii. Concrete examples of what it looks likeit being service curriculum. Awareness, advocacy, and action is the big deal in action. Visual reminders of our culture is recommended. Marketing piece--tell your story. c. Reflection i. Wolff and Auran were not able to attend this portion as they had to come home to MN. 5.) Roll out of this information and actions: a. There will be a local training on this on June 10th and 11th. A list of possible participants should be generated. b. Action themed meeting will take place between admins and coordinators to determine who will go. c. Make sure that teachers are aware of the commitment. It will lead to a committee or team such as the PBIS team, or task force, etc that leads training and provides knowledge for staff. d. Cost is $360 per person as well as paying for time. This will be important in determining budget. (At this time, Danaya gave 5 minute warning. Thanks Danaya!) e. WT: we have a lot of unanswered questions. School budgets are due April 26th. Meeting after that may be a good idea. f. Kara and Kirk will be the point people. g. Marissa and Linda are frustrated since the meetings are being cancelled when they were previously ok'd. 6.) Meetings need to be scheduled to set up opening week PD and year long PD. a. Linda suggested a program to help get people scheduled. Danaya will investigate. b. August will be too late. Meetings should get scheduled for this spring and early summer. c. Tucker called Lobo a turd. d. Linda suggested May 10th the PD day for a half day meeting. Char shot that down. Work life balance people. e. Linda-- we need to set a time. May 22nd? 7.) Adjourn. Whew!
