RFOBenchmark.vbs version 10.10.2012 (Revit 2013) Revitforum.

org Thanks to Phil Read and others for the original AUBench and revisions over the y ears, on which the RFOBenchmark is based. Without that tool, RFOBenchmark would never have been imagined, much less create d. Also, much thanks to the many people in the Hardware and Infrastructure forum at RevitForum.org. For ideas, for comments, for a lot of testing, and a lot of patience with all the different iterations! Best, Gordon

How to use RFOBenchmark 1: Copy the folder from the ZIP file to your hard drive 2: Double click the _RFOBenchmark.vbs file 3: Choose the vertical you want to test 4: OK or decline full screen test (full screen recomended) 5: Post your results in the Hardware and Infrastructure forum at RevitForum.org NOTES: * No need to rename the Benchmark folder. It can be named anything you want, as long as it has no spaces. * No need to put the Benchmark folder on the C: drive, you can even run it from a network location. However, you must use a mapped drive, a UNC path will not work. This seems to be a limitation in the Journal impleme ntation. * No need to preset Press & Drag. When the benchmark is over Press and Drag will be turned off. This is true even if you had it turned on before. * At various times a popup will let you know your progress. These popups will go away after 2 seconds and the benchmark will continue automatically. A final popup will let you know the test is done, and allow you to open the re sults file. * Export has been expanded to include both PNG and DWG export tests. * The render test is run at higher quality. * If the test does drop into interactive mode for some reason, run _Kill Test.vb s. This will stop the script from continuing the test when you close Revit. * The new benchmark is much more comprehensive, and as a result takes rather lon ger to run. 5-10 minutes is common, even 15 minutes on older machines. * The test offers an option to ask for the results file name, use the machine nb ame or use the default name. See the "ResultsFileOptions" near the top of the _R FOBenchmark.vbs file. New for 2013 * Results of the Model creation and view export benchmark & Render benchmark are somewhat comparable with 2012 results. The 2012 results did not account for scr

een resulution so comparisons between tests where already suspect. The 2013 benchmark simply shines a light on this issue, and logs both screen resolution and if the benchma rk was run full screen or not. If not run full screen there is no way to recognize the di fference between a test run at 90% of 2560x1440 and one run at half of 1440x900. Consequently it is strongly suggested that all tests be run full screen to make meaningful compar isons easier. * GPU Benchmark has been expanded to better seperate performance comparisons bet ween the different view settings. These differences are further accentuated when the test is run full screen. NOTE for International users 1. Open the Revit.ini file 2. Look for the entry [Language] Select=XXX (The xxx should be showing your local language. eg: Select=FRA for french) 3. Replace Select=XXX with Select=ENU.
