Ensuring Quality Services Report


The Local Government Association and NHS England have published a report. It will support the commissioning of high quality and safe services to meet the needs of people with learning disabilities and/or autism. Winterbourne JIP Case Studies Request


The Housing and Support Alliance are writing a report of the welfare benefit implications for people moving on from Assessment & Treatment Units. The report will be a toolkit for supporting people and it will help the DWP improve the claimant experience. Part of the report will include case studies showing the real experiences of making new claims for JSA, ESA or PIP. Wilful Neglect Consultation


The government are consulting on a new criminal offence of wilful neglect of patients or service users. By having this offence they want to close a loophole in the law. To find out more or take part in the consultation follow this link:

Learning Disability Today Regional Exhibition and Conference


Learning Disability Today is working in association with Sheffield City Council to produce this annual regional exhibition and conference. It will be a day of seminars and an exhibition to share the regions best practice and to help deliver services that improve the lives of people with learning disabilities. It will be at Hillsborough Football Stadium, Sheffield on 1st May. There is more information in this flyer:

Health Charter
VODG has developed a Health Charter for social care providers supporting people with learning disabilities. Their website includes the Health Charter, Guidance and Resources and a Self Assessment Tool. You can find out more here:

Winterbourne View Response


Think Local Act Personal and the Winterbourne View Joint Improvement Programme have written a special report on Personal Health Budgets for people with Learning Disabilities. Employing a Personal Assistant


Disability Rights UK are running a series of half day events looking the tax implications of employing a personal assistant to meet health or social needs. The events are aimed at disabled people employing PAs, health and/ or social care professionals and independent living support services. They will help you to get information and advice. Participation Academy Scoping Event


NHS England is holding an event to discuss the development of a Participation Academy. The aim for the Participation Academy is to support the development of peoples participation in the NHS. Access to Banking Report


Dosh is an organisation that supports people with a learning disability to be more independent and have more control over their money. It has recently published a report: Access to banking for people with a learning disability. As part of Leeds Learning Disability Week there will be a photography competition. All you need to do is take a photo that says something important about you.
