Advanced Placement United States Government & Politics Course Overview: This class is a semester course designed to prepare

students to take the Advanced Placement examination in May. This class is taught at a college-level and students should be prepared to do more reading, writing, etc. than they do in typical high school classes. Additionally they must be prepared to spend time outside of class doing reading assignments, pro ects, and reading!watching news reports. The goal of this class is for students to gain an understanding of the workings of American government and how public policies are formed. Homework: "tudents will be expected to complete a number of reading assignments in both the $ilson text and other selections as needed. These assignments will need to be completed prior to the class lesson on the topic so that students can adeAuately participate in class discussion. The points possible for the assignment will be based on the Auantity of work performed, the depth of analysis involved in completion, and the length of time given to complete the assignment.
