Introduction

Nursing has had a significant effect on people's lives. As rapid change continues to
transform the profession of nursing and health care system. Today, nurses bring
knowledge, leadership, spirit, and vital expertise to expanding roles that afford
increased participation, responsibility, and rewards.

Professionalization

Profession: an occupation with ethical components that is devoted to the promotion of


human and social welfare

It requires extensive education, special knowledge, skill, and preparation.

Professionalization: is the process of becoming professional.

NURSING AS A PROFESSION

Nursing is a profession with moral principles devoted to the welfare of humanity.

It is based on specialized knowledge and skill.

Nurses come into this profession after a specified period of skilled and technical training.

Completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or complete this age on or before
31st December of the year of admission.
