Exalted Ruler Alyssa Santos
April/May 2014
Greetings fellow Elks, Spring is here and with that it brings a new Elk year. I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Exalted Ruler this year. Keeping what is in the best interest of our lodge is where my anchor has been dropped. Respect for where our traditions come from and yet moving forward with new ideas and approaches are my commitment to you and our lodge. To those that have taken on an officer position ,whether elected or appointed , I thank you for your commitment to this year. As well as thank you to all the new committee chairmen. We are going to make active committees a reality this year so that we can accomplish more collectively rather than it falling strictly on the chairman shoulders. My hope is that with more active participation we can continue to increase our visibility in the community and in return our membership will flourish . Sharing the great works our Gardena lodge does with family and friends opens the door to inviting them to experience one of our functions or fundraisers . Your contribution of time and energy helps to build camaraderie within the lodge. We are a team that needs to support one another. If we are not supporting one another ,we are tearing ourselves down. I ask you to look over the committees listed here in the Elks Horn ,contact the chairman and become a little more involved by joining a committee . Together WE make the difference and I know this year we as a lodge will shine bright like a diamond !
We will have a meeting Tuesday April 8th at the Lodge at 7:00 pm for all bowlers and other interested persons. The meeting will be to complete the loose ends for our bowling tournament which will be June 7th at Bowl-o-drome allies. Remember everyone, we also have a big dinner and dance for all to enjoy on that very same day The tournaments are as follows: June 7 Aug 2-3 Aug 16 Gardena Santa Maria Chula Vista mixed-4 mixed=4 mixed-4
