KENN BISIO PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

INTRODUCTION A photograph must be seen before it is made and that is what I teach at my workshops. There are so many directions to point the lens. It is our purpose as photographers to make order from chaos. This is accomplished by showing viewers, readers as they are, what a place feels like, not what it looks like. To do this we must first transform looking to seeing. But how?

Presented by blueheART Studios kennbisiophotography. com Phone: 303-621-4477 STAFF DIRECTOR / INSTRUCTORS ALL WORKSHOPS

My workshops center on the why. Why is it we are emotionally moved to point the lens here and not there? Why select the wide lens over the long? We come to an understanding of the why through the how. It is critical to master the machine so the resulting photographs are not mechanical. Through the mastery of the machine we embark on the lifelong journey of the mastery of the image. Camera and image management are the central themes throughout all my workshops. The workshops offered in 2013 will provide opportunities for students to learn from working photographers. Everything we know will be shared all the successes and all the failures. We keep no secrets. Each workshop provides a new day of intense instruction and long hours of seeing and photographing. We begin our days with early morning light and go long into the evening. You will be exhausted at the conclusion of the workshop. It is my hope that from the work ethic of these workshops, you will return to your photography with newfound inspiration to show viewers of your work how you see yourself in the world in which you live. Each workshop will concentrate on a combination of teaching aesthetic considerations while learning the technical aspects of the medium. We will explore ideas rather than forcing dogma so that each student can begin to discover their voice in the act of image making. The sharing of information, thoughts, hopes, dreams, perception and reality will be served up in a very comfortable and encouraging environment. The busy daily schedule will include directed outdoor photography sessions, informal discussions, instructor demonstrations and presentations along with evening portfolio reviews. I look forward to the excitement of making new images with you during my Ireland, Italy, Yosemite and Vermont workshops.

SOUTHERN VERMONT October 17 20, 2013

Two Chairs, Brattleboro, Vermont

Kenn Bisio 2004

This is a workshop for film and digital photographers.

New England has been the call numerous photographers have answered. Fred Picker lived in Dummerston and photographed extensively in Vermont. Some of Paul Strands iconic images of the Northeast were made in Vermont and published in his book, Time In New England. Trying our best to time the fall colors, we will photograph in the villages of Southern Vermont and visit Rockingham Meeting House. It is here, in Vermont, where each student will have the opportunity to make photographs worthy of your portfolio and your new way of seeing. Deadline for this workshop is February 28, 2013 so we can secure hotel accommodations.

FEE: $650 Lodging, food and transportation is extra.

What better light to make exposures than under a Tuscan sun? Come to Italy and lose yourself in the magic of this countrys people as we illuminate the human condition in the soft light that is Italy. We will begin in Rome, then take rail to Florence and conclude our workshop in the Cinque Terre. The buildings and the people of these five hillside villages are both quaint and dynamic subject matter for our visual interpretations of how we see this most beautiful part of Italy.
