We, in Brazil, are attempting an impossible task of transforming a desert of brush, forest, grass, swamp and rocks
into a garden of life and health for the elderly, orphans and the

wayfaring. We seek YOUR prayers in a million dollar development for the glory of God, by the restoration of lives (body, soul and spirit) and cosmos (all from death to life). In any and all of this, "only God can make a tree . only

God can give life. God has entrusted into our hands His works. An Association is being organized with the Brazil Christian Mission, the Brasilia Church and the fellowship of pastors of the
Churches of Central Brazil. A team of workers has been

commissioned to develop each department of the project. Objectives have been laid out for answering the needs of the homeless, hungry and hurt. Bethany Christian Church, Anderson, Indiana has literally launched this Project ("Ministry to the Whole-man") giving $9,138.18 toward the financing of a semi-artesian well for water and irrigation needs. All else has been held up pending this water . . . now all signs are GO FORWARD! The well is being
drilled!

We thank all of you who have prayed and given for these
initial neds!

Our objectives in Brazil are to fulfill our ministry in relationship to "God's Grace." The Apostle Peter began on the Day of Pentecost to preach the "unsearchable riches" of the Kingdom and administer "God's Grace." All the missionary emphasis in the book of Acts is for all peoples! The Apostle Peter, in his first book, calls the Christians, a "Kingdom of priests," "a Holy priesthood" for the purpose of declaring the riches of Him who has called us

practice of the "priesthood of believers" and re-emphasizing the discipleship emphasized by Jesus in life and works. Howfitting it is
that we develop and mobilize the church more and more, when every member is happy in the Lord, glorifying His name. This has become here in Brazil, our encouragement in every phase of the

The Ministry of Discipleship

Jesus revealed the marvelous concept of discipleship for the glory of God in Christ and the church. The many aspects of discipleship enriches the church for God's purpose. The REAL complete church is truly enlivened through her minlstzy in

The ministry of the priesthood of believers is tied together so well in concept of discipleship. Jesus called mento be "Disciples." Hetransferred to them all the riches of His Kingdom. He revealed
His own heart of God to these disciples. He transmitted the fullness of God to man, the walk of man with God, the example of man in God, the presence of God's Spirit. Jesus, in His ministry,
established the relationship of the LOVE of God for man, the love of man for God, and the love of God among men in the world. The great ministry of discipleship has demonstrated a renewal

action -- a greater and more effective unity in the church -- and especially in true ministry of the priesthood of believers. The Kingdom of priests soon becomes a reality when believers come together in a mutual exchange of study and prayer. The practice of the prayer life rapidly extends to the family and naturally to every new disciple. Thus the whole structure of the church becomes one in Christ in answer to Jesus' prayer that we all be one in Him as He is in God. The marvel is the new readyness for all to pray for someone and all to be prayed for as a vital way of life - thus fulfilling the practice of the priesthood of believers.

Developing the Ministry to the Whole Man

B)* Starla Joy Sanders de Azevedo

In our setting-up and carrying-through on the PROJECT PRO-LIFE, which is also called CEPTRO, there is a 10-fold development. We are aimed at helping men, women and children in their social physical, mental and, above all, spiritual needs. First: We have had to organize in order to better accomplish our alms. We now have a Brazilian Association with its own leadership now registered with the government as a public utility agency. We have departments for various activities within the project. One of the departments is specifically designated to raise funds and gifts
from Brazilian resources.

Second: Two families, which have been helped psychologically, spiritually and financially, are being followed up. You have read about them in earlier issues of the BCM ... Edson and his family (five children) and Suely and her two children. Luiz Carlos and I have taken Edson's youngest child to raise. Third: Distribution of food, clothing and school materials is a daily activity as the needy appear with their appeals. Fourth: We are helping those who are looking for jobs, who are reorganizing their lives, as much as we can, but we are very low in funds in this area. We are helping those who need to return to their own state because they were unable to find a job or housing here in Brasilia. This takes a good deal of prayer and discernment as many come with invented stories to get money. Our method is not to give money. We buy the passage, give clothes and food. Once, we bought a used sewing machine for a lady who knew how to sew and she is now making her living from this sewing machine. One lady asked for a used refrigerator to make popcycles to sell but we were unable to help her. Other requests come in that we are unable
to answer due to lack of funds.

refrigerators, the importance of vaccinations, of various means of hygiene, etc.). We always take along tracts and pamphlets on meeting Christ, etc. We are required to fill out statistics for the government on how many people we present, what age group is
reached, who is working, who is not, etc.
Sixth: We work in close association with the local church. 1 am

Fifth: We are helping organize gronps in all our churches in the area for the distribution of milk given by the government. There are some 300 families being helped through our churches and the mission. Luiz Carlos and 1 are personally distributing milk tickets
to 50 families in the name of the local church, and another 50
families in the name of the mission. This is a total of some 650

tight financial budget. 1have this same over-sight of the camp grounds, also seeing that when it is scheduled to be used, that everything is checked out and in again.... seeing to its cleaning and repairing. Seventh: Under leadership of the local minister, 1 (Starla) am

people of which 285 are children under seven years of age. These families each receive 30 quarts of milk a month, which is very little for such big families, but more than they would have without the distribution. Some of these families have gone months in a row without any milk. These families receive tickets once a month, which entitles them to their daily quart of milk at a special meeting
which is held in the area closest to the families. (Our distribution is

in the area of the mission farm where the new project is being developed). We take a person specialized in health (a nurse or

discipling five women in the church, and two more who are not yet Christians but are very interested. We give Bible studies individually and try to help them in their dally living in Christ. Eighth: We will be helping in the use of die Medical-trailer which goes out on the weekends into needy areas to take free dental and medical help. We will find doctors, nurses and dentists who will give their time. (These are usually Christians from our local churches). Pro-life's department of health requests medicine from government departments and other sources. We will verify the medicine after each outing. Always an evangelistic team accompanies the trailer to witness and counsel. This trailer is under the supervision of missionary Bruce Colson and has gone out to many locations near Brasilia and further interior areas. Ninth: Other jobs we have in Pro-Life, are making out tracts, folders and publicity material, typing, registrations and other legal needs with the government. We seek out firms to help us in the building of the homes. We seek funds from churches and others to begin the itinerant home We seek program needs for projects,
education and teaching within the whole project. Tenth: Now that Pro-Life Is registered as a public utility, I will

be helping coordinate all the departments, together with our Brazilian president of the Project, Abigail Seve Azevedo Mesquita. We will be calling meetings for planning, putting plans into action and answering the needs. 1 hope to be giving special time to the itinerant home. Luiz Carlos is continuing to give time to directing
